as @alth0u said: treat the median doctor like you would the people at the Apple Genius Bar. forreal though i have a personal story about this which really changed my life. In high school I had an inguinal hernia (not uncommon for teenage boys). It presented as you’d expect, I.

@hyumankind I struggle with this so much. so much of today’s patterns are objectively more legible and easier to engage with. but they lack this kind of “other-worldliness” which I feel like vanished after ios6.

@samschmitz dude i also interviewed an EE who worked on this. i grilled him the whole time on why they didnt nuke it and he was just like 🤷🏻♂️ . this dude also worked on the TE OP-1 lmfao, like they had people there with insane technical chops.

@iamharaldur must be nice to be able to have this kind of moral high ground, getting to live in a country that’s been subsidized by the literal outcomes of the WWII result you’re framing as a “terrorist attack”. I agree that the bombings of Japan were human tragedies, but it was a choice the.

Insanely impressive. All of the “hardware” founders that are Dunning-Krugering themselves into thinking they can make novel ambient form factors by just slapping GPT and a mic onto a RPi or ESP32 breakout board…. this is what you’re competing with.

@GBBranstetter seinfeld is an exploration of the absurdity of life, which everyone experiences but struggles to articulate (therefore it’s relatable!). friends is about contrived love arcs that are supposed to make us feel something (and their contrived nature makes them cringe).

@ScottRechler hahahah oh scotty boy. if the management teams of the lenders and borrowers are willing to “refinance” their last 7 years of bonuses into the bank accounts of the businesses that paid CRE rents then yeah, I’d consider it

@buccocapital Easy dunk but the wrong take. Brian seems to be one of the most disciplined “culture” thinkers of all major tech companies. Took a very unpopular view on focusing their workforce way ahead of the curve and now everyone admits (quietly) that he was right. Plus, they’ve been.

@buccocapital that’s honestly the best part about Chamath, completely shameless. he knows we’re so post-truth that it just doesn’t matter what is said.

@JackieFielder_ @Trevor4SF Rent control is the LAST thing SF needs. SF rent is high because there is a supply shortage. there is a supply shortage because the city won’t permit new development / redevelopment . rent control dis-incentivizes builders even further. so like??? what’s the goal here Jackie????.

@noampomsky i grew up in a family like this. my parents started speaking to me like an adult as early as i could talk. the pros are obvious and abundant, the cons i didn’t recognize fully until later in life. my default behavior is to discuss (not converse) and i struggle to “simply agree”.

@AnneNotation yes, the Ancient City by Coulanges is what makes me think of this the most. our romanticized Rome is so distinct from the literal reality of what it was.

@buccocapital i think the harder thing to spot was the Disney+ hard ceiling. that thing clipped like a mofo. literally never seen anything like that in my life. in 2022, if you showed the correct outcome as the projection… no one would have believed it.

@ClemUhhh @iamharaldur By your definition literally all artifacts of war are terrorism. A protracted land war in Japan is terrorism because it results in extensive civilian death. US conflagration of Tokyo, terrorism for the same reasons. If we’re all against war and terrorism, shouldn’t we try to.

@chairboy @iamharaldur cool, so we’re not allowed to make nuanced arguments that compare two things ever we just only present one side and call it a day. Conjunctive contrast words just aren’t permitted in healthy debate.

@devonzuegel my wife and I actually noted the same thing! any ideas on why it feels like that? is it just that kids are more comfortable in cities in Japan vs. the US and so it “feels” more prevalent?.

@atroyn these kinds of LEDs are just insanely efficient tbh. look at some of the light shows in SZ. similar amounts of LEDs and actually less optimally spaced than they are on the sphere (normal to a plane vs. normal to a sphere) . from what i can estimate it’s about 1-10MW of power.

@keewa lol to be fair, pretty much every middle-class chinese person i know from a tier1 city became obsessed with the American suburbs when they moved here. they all moved to them as fast as possible. it’s a mind-blowing concept to anyone who grew up in Shanghai or Shenzhen.

@chairboy @iamharaldur and the other side of nuance is to let a forever war rage in the Pacific at the hands of a murderous totalitarian empire that raped and pillaged all of coastal East Asia destroying millions of lives over just a few years. you’re analyzing in a vacuum. if you claim to be in favor.

@ClemUhhh @iamharaldur I’m not “we”, nice try using other people’s thoughts as my thoughts tho. Can you refute my point?. the US did the least terrorist thing possible to end the war (which we all agree would have resulted in more terror for the Japanese civilians). given that, is it fair to label it.

@AustinTByrd no there isn’t. - extremely hard engineering problems.- massive scale to support 15% of figma users (would be >1% of the overhead).- you’d only get the low value users, churn would be brutal.- you couldn’t bootstrap “Figma from three years” and no one would fund this approach.

The definitive account on the downfall of Stability AI’s CEO we’ve been waiting for, from the journalists who’ve been all over the story from the start. @kenrickcai and @_IainMartin talked to 32 people and really delivered a must read 👀

@johnloeber @hyumankind i think when they are poorly executed, yes. but almost everything made by big companies now is so vanilla and dialed in. a great example is Outlook for Mac, it’s literally so simple and boring but the information jumps off the page at you. same with anything using Adobe Spectrum

about 2yrs ago i exchanged a few messages with @ankrgyl about Doss. his first response was “instead of integrating, you should build your own ERP”. to date, he’s still the only person to suggest this. not coincidental that his partner in crime @alanaagoyal was our first check.
