When you become an engineer in Canada, you take an oath To never cause harm/suffering/etc to humans as a result of your work This applies equally, if not more, to business Both can be used for good (to remove suffering) or evil (to add it) Do good work. Don't be evil

I believe every fortunate person will tell you this, but let me be the first: Every investment you will ever make, no matter how successful, will pale in comparison to the partners you keep Your life partner, your business partners, etc

Yesterday, for a couple hours, an issue occurred causing delays for <10% of users and dropped connections for <1% Any amount of customer impact is for us unacceptable We've published a retro + post mortem and put resolutions in place We take this all very, very seriously
We published an incident report for December 16, 2025: https://t.co/74wTX99BFF We're sorry for the impact this caused. We're actively working to eliminate the class of issues that contributed to this incident and to make the platform more resilient.

We have, once again, forgotten the merit of the dollar Revenue quality matters as much, if not more, than the revenue itself
Full essay here: https://t.co/D892Xh0LGo Thanks to @TheEthanDing, @JustJake, @mvernal and a few [redacted] unicorn founders for their thoughtful edits. I rarely ask this but if you have a friend evaluating a startup offer - I highly recommend you share this with them!

It very well might be easier to solve space cooling/energy problems than terrestrial/political problems Plan accordingly

Just so weâre clear, we like the Cloudflare folks I just think the consumer is going to get much, much better tools if you get great players pushing each other And where weâre going, we *need* those tools For me, you cannot put a price on that. This must exist.

Infra is fun because itâs tough to spot, you blink, and then itâs tough to beat
FWIW this is why - snowflake struggled to raise their series C - every tier1 passed on datadog seed/A/B - cloudflare could only raise from no-name VCs - wall street didn't understand AWS [until the numbers spoke for themselves]

An Address to the Nation In the Voice of James Madison My fellow citizens, I speak to you not as a figure from history, but as an architect addressing those who inhabit a structure he designed. I do not come to offer comfortable words. The republic is in dangerânot from foreign

Itâs so much easier to pull something back than it is to pull something forward (I do think there is massive friction in having two separate tools, but design and engineering *are* two distinct flavors)

Strong agree Itâs important to not let the constraints get in the way of innovation Design unencumbered and then let reality âpullâ things back to earth
Whenever a new design to code tool comes around, people get excited. Itâs considered the holy grail of design. You can now design with code. This is the final evolution. But I donât agree. Itâs only the holy grail if you value output higher than the process of design. Whenever

Now, I think the stories a bit more obvious (some are even building towards âitâ!) But, go check the network first, especially now So many of these companies (us included!) are looking for stellar, driven, autonomous people

Strongly agree Only started Railway after going through everybody I knew; our whole early cap table was angels at those coâs Asked them if they were building âitâ and if I could have a job The answer was always âNope, but, sounds cool would write an angel checkâ
if you have an idea for something that should exist in the world â you should message people at companies who you think should be building it (DMs open!) lot of the time we are at places like Cloudflare and there is a TON of opportunity to build it with resources and leverage

oh wow that's crazy
Researchers have found two new vulnerabilities in React Server Components while attempting to exploit the patches last week. These are new issues, separate from the critical CVE last week. The patch for React2Shell remains effective for the Remote Code Execution exploit.
