This is utterly false.
The “leading antebellum Confederates” discussed nothing of the kind.
What they did discuss was expanding slavery and colonizing parts of the Caribbean.

Are you really arguing slavery would have persisted w/o the Civil War? The leading antebellum confederates were already discussing ways to phase out slavery. W/o Lincoln, slavery would still have ended, just w/o a horrifying civil war & the subsequent centralization of power.
