A great way to test the question of “where does mass opinion lie” is to have an election in which 1.1 million people - of all different backgrounds - vote.
They're all childless w/ house plants in their apartments, which are all in the same 6 zipcodes of Brooklyn. They've all cried over a rupi kaur poem. They all love Alex G and boygenius. This is a bubble; it's a subculture that exists here, but it's not the essence of the city.

Probably worth noting that one of Mamdani's very first videos that blew up was him talking to working class New Yorkers who had voted for Trump and asking why (the answers were all cost of living and a few said Gaza).
These Chinatown numbers are mind blowing. I live in the neighborhood and the hard swing toward Trump in 2024 was palpable.
