Would be fascinating to know what percentage of Zelensky's personal time since February 24 has been devoted to myriad PR initiatives -- compared with, say, running the military

@mtracey He's the president, not the prime minister. In principle he is only supposed to do things like PR initiatives and not run the military at all. (Although of course it doesn't work quite like this in practice) Even in the US the president doesn't run the military.

@speedyk84265704 He's the commander-in-chief of the military, just like the US president, but I admire your ability to spout made-up BS with such confidence

@mtracey Not hard to figure out. Zero time running the military. Zelenskyy leaves it up to his Defense Minister and military leaders to run the Ukraine military. His role as President is to put leaders in the right places, and build alliances that benefit Ukraine.

@mtracey The President of Ukraine, like our own, focuses on grand strategy: a level that includes both military and political considerations. Ukraine needs outside help to win. Whose in charge of getting that outside help? He is. PR isnโ€™t a distraction from his job; itโ€™s a big part of it.

@mtracey One of the benefits of not having an inordinate number of your top brass killed at the front, is that they can do the job they were trained for; Running military strategy in a time of war.

@mtracey Isn't using PR to get international support for equipping and resupplying the military a very leverage way for him to run the military? Is there any other person besides him that could do that?

@mtracey If he run the military, I have no doubt weโ€™d see a tweet from you running something like โ€œWould be fascinating to know why Zelensky, who has lots of PR experience but no military one, insists on running the military instead of fundraising for Ukraineโ€

@mtracey Lets reverse the question: what proportion of his 24h does Putin devote to meddling in military matters and looking over the shoulders of his General Staff? And whatโ€™s the result? Iโ€™d say that Zelenskyโ€™s time is more well spent.

@mtracey Itโ€™s not Zelenskyโ€™s job to run the military. He leaves it to the Generals. Thatโ€™s their job. The complete clusterf*** on the Russian side is largely because #Putler wonโ€™t let Generals command.
