New report shows Brits spend more on housing than counterparts in New Zealand, Ireland, Australia and Canada, which have housing crises of their own
The story on healthcare and transportation is more nuanced because much American spending is wasteful.
There are more surgeries and GP visits each year in the US, but life expectancy is lower
And while Americans spend more on cars, it results in more traffic-related deaths
Overall, the UK clearly has serious housing problems, especially on homelessness, housing costs and social housing waiting lists
But its experiences are in the middle of the pack compared to other anglosphere countries, and less bad than New Zealand’s
