Sadly, just over a week ago we lost our twin boys
Teddy came and went from this world quickly and quietly. He passed peacefully. Our younger twin, Rafe, was not born until Tuesday 23, but died later that day in NeoNatal ICU.

@pritipatel
was attending the arrest of a suspected leader of a people smuggling gang.
I prosecuted these people pre 2010 - they are proper villains. As an ancestor of recent migrants I fully support her action 1/
Priti Patel’s parents & mine were told to leave Uganda & Kenya, in some cases to save their lives. After much protest (at one point they wanted to dump them on the Falklands) UK let them in. To think years later a daughter of that generation would pose for a photo opp like this.
Welcoming Christopher Coleman Opperman, who has been called Kitto for many months, to this wonderful world.

Simply not true👇🏼

Yes, the civil service can improve, but this is political clickbait and needs to be challenged.
If you want a better and more driven civil service get better ministers, a clearer plan and a laser like focus.
I have missed

A great intro, genuinely worth 5 minutes if your time, whatever your views. And as an MP I can assure you that all MPs in

Another GAIN!!

This is a trend
I believe Government should be focusing on the issues affecting our economy, the cost of living, and the necessity of ending the war in Ukraine.
I do not believe the many months associated with leadership change helps that; I do not support colleagues undermining the PM 1/
As a Labour MP you are one of the reasons the country does not take Labour seriously.
I back the police 100%. They are true public servants and keep you safe.
We buried our boys together in a quiet country churchyard 2 weeks ago.
A v tough time.
But thank you to
- the 1000s of you who have written in, with kindness, empathy and compassion.
- and the 100s of you who have financially supported our work on medical research 1/

A very moving day.
The headstone and the new bench overlooking the twins grave all in place.
We spent some time chatting to the boys 👍

It has been a honour, and a great responsibility, to serve as a minister, but we need leadership change, and I have resigned. I will continue to work for my constituents in Hexham from the backbenches.
My letter to the PM.
Thinking of our 2 boys taken too soon, and resting together quietly in an English churchyard. We think of you always.

The Wave quote is a good description of this awful process, and an acceptance of life passing. You never regret trying to have children. Sometimes baby loss happens. We will never forget our boys. They will be with us always. Just sadly only in their spirit and their memory 5/
Nothing we could do. Just a horrible tragedy. We emerged from hospital a week ago shell shocked. We have taken some time out to recover. I am back at work part time, but bear with me. We will come through this, but will always miss our boys. Cards are fine, but pls no flowers 2/

I remain of the view that
@RishiSunak
is the right person to be our Prime Minister.
He is a serious person for serious times.
He was right about the economy during the summer: we need his leadership to get us back on track.
I voted to accept the Privileges Committee Report this evening.
I have read the report in full. It is not acceptable to mislead the House of Commons, whoever the person, whatever the surrounding circumstances. The
@HouseofCommons
is more important than all of us.
The loss of our younger twin Rafe was particularly acute. He lived and died within a long day. But we treasure our time with him in Neonatal ICU. We were able to tell him of all our hopes and dreams for him, and our family; but he could not make it and died in Flora’s arms 3/
The PM has my support as we collectively address these issues post covid; that means levelling up, enhanced pension saving, better education / skills and real conservative policies both to grow our economy and look after the most vulnerable in our society 2/
We are grateful to the NHS doctors + nurses who tried to save our boys. We are engaging with Sands, who help families coping with the grief of baby loss. We will try and establish a small fund to support research that will prevent other families experiencing the same pain 4/

Sadly no justification for

- the violence against police in Westminster.
Not acceptable. Protests must be peaceful and in accordance with social distancing rules.

In the last 24 hours 248,177 have been vaccinated in England.
That's 248,177 more people who will soon be protected from COVID.
248,177 who are less likely to require hospital treatment.
And 248,177 who are less likely to die from COVID-19.

sets out why the SNP / Green Party deal is, and will be, a disaster on many many levels for Scotland, my constituents in Northumberland working both sides of the border and the rest of the UK 🇬🇧
When my children passed away in the summer of 2020 he was unbelievably kind.
I mourn this gentle but passionate man who existed to change things for the better. It was an honour to know him, and we are poorer for his loss. My thoughts are with a Harriet and their family 3/
Kitto will always be our third child.
Sadly our twin boys did not make it, being born too soon for this world. They are loved, and never forgotten but, for now, we celebrate a long journey to parenting 👍

I resign with great regret, given there are serious ongoing issues that need addressing ranging from cost of living support, to legislation, & parliamentary debates.
It should not take the resignation of 50 colleagues, but sadly the PM has left us no choice. He needs to resign.
