Whatever the equilibrium pop of this place is, price signals don’t indicate it’s substantially higher. We don’t have that much to build, but we have more than zero to build.

People don’t want to live in rural areas because there are no jobs because we have made decisions to locate them in certain places. Cities have become places “people want to live” because of those choices. Read up on the urban crisis if you think SF AND NYC are inherently popular.

Since downzoning Haight-Ashbury in 1970 we've gone from a racially integrated neighborhood to one where less than 5% of people are black, and our neighborhood's median income rose from under $12k/y to $190. Scarcity does not work, we have tried to disastrous results.
