I'm going to make a thread with my writing about homelessnes and housing, which I'll pin to my profile and add to over time. This one argues that having housing shouldn't be contingent on having a job or getting sober. Housing should be guaranteed. https://t.co/lsAZ1t2eA9

Can you imagine if a woman candidate went on tv with no shirt on to prove that her new Gallic knot tattoo was covering up her Nazi tattoo? Everyone would call her unelectable, rather than saying "this is good, things are going well" like they are with Platner.
“[It’s] some kind of Celtic knot with a dog on it, because that’s far more in line with my opinions about nature and animals now than my connection to the violence that I partook in when I was a young man.” Gotta say, it sounds like he didn’t know what this one was either.

Platner, home alone with his shirt off, addressing his Nazi tattoo: “This is all your fault! [long pause] Oh, I could never stay mad at you” [begins tongue kissing Nazi tattoo]

I worry this episode will vindicate the establishment wing of the Dem Party, which really is doing an awful job. I also worry that the takeaway message for outsiders will be "Don't bother looking for unconventional candidates. They can't win." When in reality, it's one candidate.

What happened here is that one candidate was recruited, a lot of hope was placed in him, he doesn't seem to be panning out, and the DSCC has played the role of elevating a very old insider rather than looking for younger talent.

Part of what people liked about Platner was the idea that there is a lot of untapped talent out there. I think if you want to take that seriously, the idea has to be to scrounge up a bunch of unconventional candidates and see what takes hold . . .

Obviously you can imagine someone who comes back from war and really is in no shape to be Senator. He needs to make the case that he’s not that guy. But he also is going to have to lean on the “I’ve not been ok” thing as well. It’s not easy!
