I work in an interdisciplinary studies program, and last night was trying to explain how I understand interdisciplinarity. Here are a few quick thoughts for those who may be interested. I would love to hear more ideas!

@jallepap The CA governor Newsom referred to his state as a nation-state; the MA governor Baker is carrying out foreign policy as if his state were a nation-state, using a football team as the navy. Trump is breaking up the United States.

@RT_Falconer @AshleyJudd @MiraSorvino @NZStuff No coincidence that the two women exuded the highest and sharpest intelligence on the screen--Sorvino and Judd. I understand the latter is now doing a masters in public policy here at Cal. I always wondered what happened to Sorvino. She was so good in The Replacement Killers.

‘There’s an element of the left whose top priority is not human rights, but rather being anti-imperialist: just opposing the U.S. government or any close U.S. allies such as Israel. Prioritizing that over the defense of human rights and basic life is wrong.’ Profound point 1/2

“The left discredits itself if it becomes an apologist for Hamas slaughtering civilians.”  I interviewed Kenneth Roth, who ran the Human Rights Watch for 29 years. He’s called Israel an “apartheid” state—but he thinks the left has let Hamas off the hook.

Ackman is going to get Oxman's Ph.D. withdrawn by admitting that her impressive scientific knowledge in her dissertation was just "uncited" Wiki text. She should demand that he stop talking about her work. This is from the MIT Handbook .

@nhannahjones @jennaburrell CRT makes students feel bad. We also can't allow the teaching of heliocentrism that reveals that God didn't put us at the center of His Creation so He could watch over us & Darwinism that shows we weren't created in God's image. A white Christian nation must be a feel good nation

Still confused by the SF Board recall. Been told many times it was a grassroots parents movement. Do the #'s work out? 133K votes for recall. Only 50K kids in SFUSD. So assuming parents have more than 1 kid on average, maybe 75K parents of SFUSD kids. Say 60% voted, 75% + recall.

@LHSummers Spreading suspicions that a Palestinian academic is anti-Semitic on the basis of *un-cited* sources the evidence from which one is not prepared to disclose and defend is serious academic misconduct, much worse than the self-plagiarism the chief Diversity Officer is accused of.

@owasow So maybe Musk thought his free speech absolutism was not only a defensible principle but also a profitable strategy, i.e. allow anything not explicitly prohibited by the government. So he cuts content moderation staff. Then finds it's not a profitable strategy.

@EricLevitz Trump is also less popular than he was in 2020. In the race to the bottom, Trump may be winning here. 🤞

Lord MacCauley (1830s) raises a point relevant to a US where gerrymandering, small state Senate power, and the electoral college may result in the natural majority located in the most economically dynamic counties being locked out of executive, congressional & judicial power

@joshtpm Boris Johnson made a similar video at a similar early stage, and then descended into a terrible situation in an ICU. Neither was standing in their early videos. Trump's older, more obese; but the therapeutics have become better. We'll see.

@kristoncapps @jallepap Why hasn't anyone privatized air yet, so people have to make micropayments through bitcoin accounts to breathe the air, wherever they are?
