Trump said this stuff all the time in the first term and people blew it off because DOJ ignored him. But with the Comey indictment and other investigations into his enemies list this term, have to take these threats deadly seriously. He means it, and so does the bureaucracy.

I hope GOP Senators are paying close attention to Bondi’s stonewalling. Executive branch oversight is a delicate balance based on precedent, and by letting her get away with refusing to provide basic answers, they are setting up future Democratic AG’s to basically ignore them.

Not only is Hegseth in way over his head, but clear he doesn’t have a seasoned team to guide him and help mitigate his deficiencies. Continue to worry greatly about what will happen if we face an actual national security crisis where judgment and temperament can’t be faked.

The Justice Department we have long known is dead. As in many authoritarian states, it now exists as an arm of the government to punish the president’s enemies, regardless of the law. A tragedy for the country with lasting implications, even if this case is dismissed.
MSNBC: Fmr. FBI Director James Comey has been indicted on two counts – obstruction and false statements.

Need some Oscar play off music for this Trump UN speech. Big Castro and Chavez vibes.

Suspect this debate will never be settled because Patel will order the recordings destroyed. Everyone will know what happened, but the proof will be gone. Hence the WH denials today.
To settle this, it would be great if the White House would release the case files and any FBI recordings of Homan's meetings with undercover agents posing as businessmen.

Been loathe to just pluck random comments as representative. Democrats have denounced the killing, expressed shock, as have most on the left. That there is a consensus that runs from hasan and jacobin to schumer and jeffreys speaks to what the actual broad view is of the "left."

It’s been a long ten years since Obama sang Amazing Grace in Charleston.
Trump: "For years those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country and it must stop right now. My administration will find each and every one of

It would have been far easier personally for these agents to just go quietly. They deserve real credit for standing up to Trump’s abuses of power - especially when so many others aren’t.

This interview, which is also available to listen to as a podcast, provides a useful overview of some of the dangerous trends we’ve been seeing in recent months regarding federalization and militarization of state and local police functions.

In past 48 hrs Trump insults and punishes India; cancels Taiwan president transit; calls into question Australia nuclear sub deal, and hits EU with 15% unilateral tariffs. It takes years to build allies' trust and confidence but little time to destroy it (which China must love.)
This threat to India just a day after Trump extends a trade truce with China and thanks them for selling us rare earth magnets. The Trump doctrine is to be tougher on allies and partners than on adversaries.

Children are starving. Civilian deaths continue to mount. Hostages are still held. Today I led 43 of my Senate colleagues in demanding the State Department work urgently to end the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. This cannot continue.

Sort of how Barack Obama felt about the birther nonsense, except for the fact that Obama actually was spending all his time working on real problems, hadn’t made conspiracy theories a feature of his campaign, and wasn’t hiding anything about his birth certificate.

This is a real disappointment that will have significant internal and external costs for Zelensky. Suspect the Trump admin either took its eye off the ball or just didn’t care, especially after Amb. Brink left.
Latest: Zelensky has signed law stripping powers of Ukraine’s independent anticorruption agencies, according to two sources close to the president. It has not yet been published on the presidential site.

Trump’s reversal (for now) on arms to Ukraine is quite a diplomatic achievement for Rutte, Starmer, and Macron. They started working this back during the transition and have never given up, even when the Zelensky blow up in the Oval Office seemed to scuttle everything.

This is literally superpower suicide. These are some of the most talented public servants doing critical work. Champagne corks are popping in Beijing and Moscow after they already emptied the wine cellars celebrating the end of USAID.
HAPPENING NOW!! Moving scene - tears, hugs, and cheers - inside the State Dept HQ tonight, as diplomats gathered in the lobby to clap out their laid off colleague, some of which have served for decades 👇🏻

Mr. President, thank you for the honor of a lifetime. In your America, all dreams come true. It will be my honor to represent the United States of America in Malaysia. To the esteemed Members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I look forward to a confirmation process
