Hey friends!
I'm offering health coach / counselling sessions for people with chronic diseases & autoimmune illness.
I have personally overcome 12 years of excrutiating, crippling pain & a wide array of symptoms.
Sliding scale. DMs open. Please repost!
crows have a kind of "rhyming language" to describe humans (and I presume other animals) branded "egg stealers" in such detail that other crows that have never seen the offender are able to accurately identify them. If you piss off a crow, you piss off every crow within a radius

"I understand your disregard for arbitrary social contracts, but you should know that I am somewhat global-south-coded and there we often settle contract voidance with violence"
@generativist
cognitive effects of semaglutide are gonna be due (entirely I assume) to increasing insulin sensitivity
insulin sensitivity is the endpoint for many kinds of neuroinflammation, eg TLR4 activation
are the underlying cause of mental disorders including adhd
@generativist
semaglutide isn't the only choice
anything that lowers neuroinflammation will have similar effects
try intranasal insulin, to start. dms always open for bioenhancement discussions

I am from a rural area of the US with many old intentional communities started in the 60's, half or more of which are abandoned
It comes down to badly written or enforced contracts. Disagreements about value added. What if someone wants to leave & sell or rent their house 1/

@UpperCayce
That guy who managed to win a local New York number drop lottery several times in a row & turned it into a full-fledged business over at least 5 years, hiring guys to process his tickets at bodegas, until eventually he went so broke he we to jail for fraud or something

Among the successful remaining communities, the single unifying characteristic is the presence of at least one very well off community member or benefactor. 4/

Someone is the clear charismatic leader. That someone takes a ton of acid and acquires demigodlike reverence among some of the other hippies. Others start to hate them. Chaos ensues 3/
@nickcammarata
@christineist
@nat_sharpe_
E.g. someone bought the land ages ago, invited some hippies, then left. Now it's anyone's land who signs the contract.
Or a successful business started by someone where most of the members work.
Or old money.
Now no one has a strong sense of unequal contribution

Someone becomes an alcoholic. That someone was supposed to maintain the driveway but the tractor's broken down and the only guy who could maintain it got a real job and left.

i would urge people not to focus on a man's 20+ year old criminal convictions and instead focus on his more recent lesser transgressions that inform about how he's likely to act today
@sonikudzu
The guy was insane. After he came into the house he basically didn't know what to do next. Was just cracking jokes with us, smoking our weed & made us strip down. When the cops arrived he literally jumped out a window and paralyzed himself. Downright bizarre
@acidshill
This is below average in Arab nations (average is 45%). yes, you heard that right - the average number of marriages between relatives is 45 fucking percent with all Arab nations. the highest rate of consanguinity irrc is Pakistan, at ~70%.
The degredation of the US empire is not due to a slide towards socialism or capitalism, but rather
corporations are increasingly corroborating with the US govt to enforce laws in exchange for monopolies over their areas of the econonomy - *feudalism*
@xsphi
I used to think this way, but now I wonder - are the people people the necessary glue to create society?
Many of most idea idea people I know are abject loners who occasionally show their loneliness in outbursts of emotionality
@adastroworld
a friend once said: sometimes conservatives get things right for the wrong reasons, and sometimes liberals get things wrong for the right reasons
@sonikudzu
Wowwww
When I was still a baby my mom & I were abducted at gunpoint and driven a few states away, and then they just let her out. Idr why. I was too young to remember
@goblinodds
Oh yea, I've been saying this. There is a huge funding mismatch for the treatment of many (not all) chronic illnesses; in particular, chronic fatigue gets very little federal funding
I stopped saying this after SBF, assuming EA would be too bankrupt to try new things for awhile
@nickcammarata
@christineist
@nat_sharpe_
an intentional community in which most of the members are reasonably well off might be different, but in that case, why go that route at all? Now you're sinking a ton of equity into an utterly nonfungible asset. Frankly i could see that being worse
@chaosprime
Did you see the papers on bioaccumulation in the brain?
Oh ya, there are none. Except one in rats, which showed that it bioaccumulates in rat brains with a half life of ~10 years
Causing low grade inflammation.
This is why mRNA vaccines are way, way better.
@telmudic
As a musician, it's incredibly common. So many musician-coded ppl are just not talented enough to be enjoyable to listen to. I have good friends whose entire personality is being in bands & jamming on the weekends, and I love hanging with them but they will suck forever :(
@xsphi
not to mention it is rarely tested for in blood samples unless specifically looked for
this article has propaganda written all over it. "let's demonize one of the safest recreational substances available" mmkay great, why does this ring a bell..
"Fauna tends to evolve towards crab" "flora tends to evolve toward tree" "half of everything looks like a penis" "the other half looks like a vagina"
homie. you know there's only so many ways to contort 3-dimensional space
Halloweeen is a chance for everyone to crawl out of their skin and do some shadow work in public
break out your bugbears folks. let's all laugh at them (or acknowledge our terror)
in order to make pathways for self and societal actualization
I once saw some musical idols play in a small bar in a midsize city. both ladies in 30-40 age range, with decade+ careers. I told them at the merch booth they were huge inspirations. They told me not to be a professional musician😥
Being a music fan is so crazy. You're just like "you're my favorite and I need you to rise" and they're like "I appreciate your support but I'm having an existential crisis”
@generativist
this is not the dominant view in medicine but could reasonably be said to be the dominant view of many researchers in the field of immune activation
it is my view due to lived experience
intranasal insulin works better than glucagon mimetics/increasers, for me personally
My approach will not work for everyone, but it will work for some!
I have at least some experience with all functional medicine modalities, so I can provide guidance if you are working with a practitioner / already have some idea of the direction you want to go.
So many are suffering from chronic pain & not realizing just how much it's impacting their psychological state.
Chronic pain will destroy a person. And once the pain is dealt with, you'll realize you're actually a happy, stable person.
But you gotta do the work, and it's hard.
When I overcame my chronic illness, it was if several rooms had appeared in my house that I'd never been in before.
The experience is truly surreal. Like sychedelics, but somewhat beyond that.
@garybasin
@generativist
It's pretty safe, but it is possible that 1) you don't notice substantial effects, even from the highest single dose (80iu) 2) the effect of a very small dose will seem too intense
Take with at least 10g of carbs
Oh, so there's one - be careful with this if you're on keto!
What are you trying to tell me? That I don't need to watch porn?
No, Neo. I'm trying to tell you that when you get good enough at masturbating, you won't have to.
in my small town, many people were treating lyme disease by going to a homeopath who fed them sugar pills
unbelievably disgusting and immoral
mystical healing may have some merit, but it's a dangerous concept
So get this: my lover’s friend is a Colombian doctor. As part of her program, drs are sent to remote areas where medical care is sparse. She went to work w indigenous ppl in the Amazon
When she arrived, there was a culture of shamans who treated people mostly through prayer

Disbelief.
Disbelief that I have gone this deep.
God, I love you.
That's all I was chosen to do.

a friend once said - and I paraphrase - "when you're both in the same room in a high-energetic state, the connection between you can become uncomparably powerful"
@Duderichy
I had a very beautiful friend growing up who would find these bfs who would fly her all around the world, just throwing money at her through her 20's just to date some rich dudes. She's a receptionist now
@cumputervillain
r/medicine is at least that bad
I remember one time some guy posted a question, "why did my girlfriend die from a stroke after we did c**e together, she's only 19"
Every doctor subtlety blamed the victim. I suggest, "was she on birth control? That can cause this" 1/
@BecomingCritter
God, this is such old news.
The standard of care in functional medicine circles is this (almost certainly safer and more effective than iodine):
@goblinodds
They have a long track record of spontaneously closing business accounts with small businesses deemed "high-risk," and not returning the money. A friend had over $10,000 outright stolen from them with little recourse. They might have gotten it back from them after a while, idk
@ruthhook_
Unlike progesterone (P), progestins are unable to be converted to downstream neurohormones which are critical for immunomodulation & balance of the GABA / glutamate systems, while suppressing P, perhaps for a long time after cessation. Leads to depression, multiple sclerosis..
@goblinodds
I found like one single lesswrong post about this from 5 years ago that got 5 upvotes or something.
People still aren't taking this stuff seriously even when they're suffering and it blows my mind
@sonikudzu
My mom has this hilarious resistance to stress due to being in her own head so much, like there's a barrier between her and the real world. The way she describes that situation is so blasé lol
The degredation of the US empire is not due to a slide towards socialism or capitalism, but rather

@AskYatharth
okay so most of my childhood friends were borne from legit 60's style (mostly failed) hippy communes and actual cults
I was always the maybe-a-lil-autistic almost-outsider, but here's the thing: I got sooo much love & friendship growing up despite being shy 1/
This is exactly the issue with mainstream medical practice. There is a societal expectation that the doctor does all of the thinking for the patient, so the the patient is handed a list of directives by the hand of authority which they don't / hardly understand, or even try to.
I hate the little things that are persistently taught slightly wrong because the assumption is nobody really cares.
for example: escape velocity. "you need to be going X km/s to leave earth's orbit" THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. if you go 1 km/h you will *eventually* leave
@SHL0MS
@cube_flipper
huh
for me the effects peak at 1hr and are pretty steady for about 8hrs or so. There's a noticeable come up period but it's not distracting. I take it with the morning and evening meal.
"Bullshitting" - not caring whether the words you say are false or even maybe true - surpasses lying for destructiveness. "Vibing" surpasses bullshitting: in "vibing" the words you're saying just don't mean anything, aren't intended as semantic.
@zeta_globin
Likely due to down regulation of natural progesterone production - and/or modification of bodily response to progesterone. It's worth it to try supplementing bioidentical P, but dosing can be tricky - too much can make things worse. That said, it works great for me :) (Im male)
@Actualwebutante
@faguettelong
same. and honestly, I see a lot of similar wisdom in immigrants, particularly first or second generation.
by the way, I spent 3 mins and made your tweet into a screensaver. here ya go. (hopefully twitter doesn't compress images?)

@deepfates
He made a callout thread after VC which was extremely and directly mean to a personal acquaintance..
Who was a personal bully to me. This made me really appreciate fates because he had the confidence to be an sshole towards a person who I felt really deserved it
@PrinceVogel
it depends on the method of delivery, but the first ~5-20mg or so of preg seem to be immediately reuptaken to the brain to be transfromed into neurohormones. It's a long story. DM me if you're interested; this is my current nerd journey :)
@goblinodds
This does exist and is run by a data scientist from Amazon; . it is an analytics dashboard matching symptoms & gut bacteria cfu tests, specifically (it targets dysbiosis only). You enter symptoms or gut microbiota data & get probiotic & supplement recs
idk who needs to hear this, but bismuth subsalicylate (pepto-bismal) causes ***heavy metal poisoning in a manner similar to other heavy metal salts like lead acetate***
yes, bismuth is a heavy metal
@eris_nerung
@uncle_deluge
@seconds_0
Bismuth Subsalicilate(Pepto) is a pretty decent way to get an aspirin-like anti-inflammatory in your system without making your stomach hurt more. Not great for your microbiome but worth it
@adrusi
e.g., progressive ideas might be farther out on the overton window than conservative ideas; farther from trad America's ideals - whereas neoreactionary views often feel like an echo from just one or two generations ago
@adrusi
here's better advice: Don't filter your circle for openness by being maximally open off the cuff
do that only after you are certain it's safe & in everyone's best interest
monopolies don't cause "bad capitalism," they cause feudalism
the concept of the govt collaborating with businesses is the poison pill that will destroy our country
it is exactly as bad as any single institution (govt or private sector) having outsize power
maybe one reason (or the reason) for the prevelance of sexual assault is that people have so closely associated sex as a tool to bring people into their orbit
@sonikudzu
Haha sure!
I have to one-up you again tho, I was robbed at gunpoint in NYC & pistol whipped in the face by a crazy guy - I honestly remember it as being hilarious. Maybe because I was high AF when it happened, or maybe I take after my mom. 1/
@cumputervillain
Talk about being downvoted into oblivion.
Those a**holes love to sit back and blame people for enjoying the selves and then downvote harm reduction to hell. F***ing hacks
@adrusi
same - may have been due to having next to no conservative friends for most of my life, so the contrarian conservative points that eventually resonated felt so much more significant, which lead to a mental overcorrection. but it's also possible that progressives have a harder job
