We used to have an adult-oriented culture and then it shifted to youth-oriented one. But there aren’t enough young people anymore to support it. So, the culture needs to pivot back to adult tastes.
But, everyone has forgotten what 40 year-olds want.

Conan is the Gen X Johnny Carson.
The fact that he got shived by a less talented, more politically savvy Boomer and had to watch the institution he cared so much about degraded in the process is the most Gen X story of all-time.
There are entire Twitter accounts dedicated to sharing epic clips of comedians being about half as funny as the guy you chill with at the bar after work while Conan continues to be one of the funniest guys in show business doing the silliest shit.
