I don’t think so. What is so inspiring to me about the story is not the rebels won, but they stood up against impossible odds and nearly won. Much like the first Rocky movie. There was a noble victory in defeat.
@stevendeknight you have probably been asked this before and answered it but if history didn’t dictate Spartacus and his army fate would you have liked to write a “happier” ending for some of the characters and him?

@stevendeknight Ive been trying in LA for 18 years now, a good 10 of which was while working 80 hours a week. Wrote about 50 movie and TV scripts. Tried everything (contests, querying, Black List, InkTip etc), still nothing to show for it. Don't think I have it in me anymore.

Same. 7 1/2 years working a day job then writing at night. And all weekend. My friends stopped inviting me out because 90% of the time, I’d say, thanks, but I have to write. It’s tough to break, tough to stay in. But 1000% worth the effort and sacrifice.
@mailstormio @Noahpinion I spent 8 years working full time jobs, going home and making dinner, then spending 2-3 more hours writing screenplays on my own time before getting my first television job. You either want it bad enough to consistently make the time to work on your craft, or you don't.
