I got a ban warning on Facebook just now. A food truck we like is changing menus and I wrote "We will miss the tacos, but family and health come first. Look forward to your new menu!"
Facebook says if I say anything like that again, I will be suspended.
ANYTHING LIKE WHAT
It turns out that my cousin who works at Arby’s used to be an expert in constitutional law, then he was a noted scholar in gerrymandering, then he somehow acquired vast knowledge about immunology and virology, and now danged if he doesn’t know everything about federal warrants.
When Bill Murray and Chevy Chase got into a physical fight during Chase’s return to SNL as a guest host, Bill Murray pointed at Chase and yelled, ‘MEDIUM TALENT,’ and I think that might be the most brutal insult in history.
No Wilde quote, no rap diss track compares.
She sure as hell is not. We see in BATGIRL that she (in canon) comes to the assistance of a transgender activist, and I know because I wrote the goddamn story.
I was a huge JKR fan and cried a little the day she followed me.
My sister and I would go rent a nice hotel room and read the books each time a new one came out.
Now I wish I’d never had the damn things in my house.
THE WORLD HEARING ABOUT TRUMP: ...huh.
THE WORLD HEARING SOMEONE HIT RICK MORANIS: Godammit, NO! What kind of just god allows this? My fortune for the bounty! Destroy the foul creature who punched the angels’ chosen one! LET NO ONE REST ‘TIL HE IS SAFE!
Question of the day:
Have you ever specifically bought something as an adult because you weren’t allowed to have it as a kid, for expense or other reasons? Particularly toys, music, clothes, books, etc.
Me watching Bake-off: You fool! You can’t dip the walnut whirl in the tempered chocolate, you have to drizzle over the top to achieve the characteristic wobble of the coffee ganache, Parisian cafe-style!
Me baking at home: I forgot to put apples in the apple pie
Here is my central core thought while writing Deadpool.
It is no secret that I don't like endlessly 'zany' Deadpool. He was described as 'serial killer Daffy Duck' to me early on, that's the version I don't care for.

I am not going to be able to speak about this this morning, I can see that.
But under the persona, Stan Lee was a real human being. I met him three times and three times he told me something literally life-changing.
I hope everyone knows, he cared about us. That was no act.
Okay, little experiment. If you identify as female (or non-binary), raise your hand if you have ever been accused of or questioned as being a 'fake nerd girl.'
#Fakenerdgirl
I say again. Marvel has done an amazing job casting their lead actors for film.
But I think Iman Vellani might be their single best casting choice ever.
She stole the new trailer entirely.
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR GIRLFRIEND MUST KEEP TRIM MUST LOVE ANIME WILL NOT WORK OUTSIDE THE HOME DOESN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT PERMISSION DOESN’T HAVE SKANKY FRIENDS MUST DRESS SEXY AT ALL TIMES NO UNNATURAL HAIR COLORS
Disney went from Steamboat Willie to Fantasia in twelve years.
The Beatles went from Please Please Me to the White Album in five years.
Art is SUPPOSED to evolve.
Your childhood memory is a good thing. Trying to freeze art to match it is not.
Someone sent me a post about how when I wrote Thor, I made the bad guy misogynist and it was so un-subtle and how it was obvious I hated men because the villain in this story was a guy and was so loathsome.
I have never written Thor.
Dear Hostile Internet Oddballs,
I do not owe you a moment of my time. If I choose to laugh with friends rather than answer your hot take nonsnense, trust me, I am doing us both a favor.
Have a nice night.
I see people say they have tried D&D expecting a Critical Role-like experience, and I have to say, most games are not going to be quite so posh.
Have some rowdy fun with a group of friends, be bold, be boisterous, you will have a great time. Don't compare yourself to anyone!
Sometimes I just realize that my favorite villain from my favorite comic series of all time was in a big budget movie that I also loved and I think, holy crap, that one thing still makes me happy to even consider
Thanks,
@JamesGunn
This whole Captain Marvel in the movie thing is just so weird. She's not joyless, she's just not a wise-cracking smartass like all the others including Doctor Strange.
She's a STOIC.
If she was a dude, no one would even hesitate at her attitude. I find it fun and refreshing.
Today is
@Dwayne_McDuffie
's birthday. He would have been 62 today, if he hadn't passed unexpectedly one day after his 49th birthday.
To me, and most everyone who knew him, Dwayne was a light we all orbited in someway. There are many great creators.
Dwayne was a giant.

I worked with three massive video game franchises in the past couple years where women working on them each individually told me their bosses were shocked and unprepared for the number of women and girls buying their games. Some expressed disbelief rather than delight.
Okay, my challenge of the day.
I want you to brag about yourself for one tweet. No humblebragging, no apologizing, no including your faults at all.
For some, this is a breeze, some have never done it even once.
Please use hashtag
#MyBrag
and say something great about you.
Folks.
Bane is a strategic genius. She-Hulk is a brilliant lawyer. Harley Quinn is a highly educated psychologist. Poison Ivy is a brilliant botanist and biochemist.
I could go on.
When you write these characters as one-dimensional and unintelligent, you're doing it wrong.
On our trip back home we kept having the same nice thing happen to us several times.
At first we thought, ‘oh how nice!’
Now I am realizing that it probably means something not very nice at all.
A short thread.

Okay, here is a theory that has some holes in it, but here we go.
One of my biggest complaints about modern superhero stories is, especially from some newer writers, that they have downplayed the role of non-powered, relatable background characters.

Today I woke up and realized that in the last month or so, two A-list film directors reached out to me separately because they want to work with me.
THEN I remembered that I used to cut hair for a living.
What happened.
I DON'T KNOW.
:)
There are several writing ‘rules’ that are horseshit and I hate them.
Here are a few. Add others if you like!
WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW
The worst. I say, know more. Write things you have to learn. Get help as needed. Bring your experience, yes. But write with bigger horizons.
This is one of the most underrated performances in any comic book film, don't argue with me about this. In a great movie, it would have been legendary. This performance alone wipes the floor with most Marvel movie villains.
After six episodes,
#WandaVision
still feels far too much like an inflated feature film that just keeps dragging out its story via inconvenient weekly installments. Here's why:
I am not worried about JKR’s feelings. She’s surrounded by wealth, love and adoration that most people can’t imagine, and has shown herself willing to threaten legal action against people who point out the harm in her actions.
She’s not the victim.
Peter Safran says ‘BATGIRL’ “was not releasable. I actually think that David Zaslav and the team made a very bold and courageous decision to cancel it because it would have hurt DC.”
See the full DCU slate:
.
@BenShapiro
: “My prediction: [Barbie] is just absolutely going to fall off a cliff after [week one]. The repeat business on this movie is going to be nonexistent.”
I think there's a generational thing going on with the Birds of Prey movie. A certain older group of mostly straight guys keep repeating how the women in the film are not sexy.
Meanwhile, I've been all over the world and younger people are DYING to see this movie.
A couple years ago, a very nice young girl was being bullied for wearing a feminist t-shirt in a photo. I offered her words of support.
Today, in São Paulo, she proudly handed me a graphic novel she wrote.
I love comics.
I just realized that Bewitched is all about cocaine.
She twitches her nose and magic happens and also she’s paranoid about people snooping around trying to uncover her secret and when one sugar daddy is no good anymore she just gets another and acts like nothing happened.
Dear trans people, you are human and beautiful and valid and these horrible people are none of those things.
They blame you because they’re empty inside.
Here’s a thing, even if you don’t care about comics.
@billmaher
saw a mass of people grieving and thought, ‘Hey, how can I make this about me?’
Probably all anyone needs to know, really.
GARY GYGAX: Women don't want to play D&D, every woman who played in one of my games quit after like the fifth time I threw a rock at her head, I think they're brains are different or something, like squirrely somehow otherwise they would like me so much, just wow.
Okay, I loved the Eternals.
I am not that familiar with the comic, I’ll admit it.
But I loved the film. Lovely characters, avoidance of the usual formulas, and lush visuals.
I understand not everyone agrees.but I loved it.
LOVED.
IT.
My favorite type of hero is not the unbeatable guy. Bar none, any gender, any universe, it’s the person who gets the crap kicked out of them, and somehow gets back up.
Give me a hero who says they’re not done yet.
Okay, so yesterday,
@rocketspouse
and I went out to lunch at our favorite local Mexican restaurant. I've been working like A LOT and didn't feel like cooking.
So, we sit down, we're having a nice lunch, only one other person in the place, a retired gentleman.

This is bitter news. We were lucky to have him.
Untold millions of lives made better by stories.
Endless people who learned responsibility from Spider-man, acceptance from the X-men, self-forgiveness from the Hulk.
Stan Lee put better heroes in our vision.
Forever the Man.
I have an idea for a D&D book that needs to happen, for real.
A style and fashion guide for adventurers.
Like Elle for Orcs.
I'm serious, though.
@Wizards_DnD
I actually think about this often.
Chase was cruel and horrible to his cast mates, he comes back to host as a movie star, and the new guy says THAT.
A million, billion times worse than saying, ‘NO talent.’
After the fire, the fire still burns.
Deadpool was near cancellation when I took it over. We raised the sales AND critical and fan reaction was nearly 100% positive.
Marvel cancelled and renamed Deadpool and Cable not for sales, but because they were mad at the co-creator of both, Rob Liefeld.
Otherwise, sure!
Just a reminder that Ian Miles Cheong was an ostensibly left-wing loudmouth blowhard and it wasn't paying so in a single day, he completely switched to being a right-wing loudmouth blowhard because the grift was better.
Before seeing BLACK ADAM, we stopped for sandwiches at a Subway. The young counter guy was nice, was excited to see it, too, and we quickly realized he thought it was a Marvel movie.
And it made me wonder how many people don't know or care if these movies are Marvel or DC.
Be mad if you like, but I’m with
@danslott
.
Superman and Batman don’t kill.
Don’t bother sending samples, I’ve read those stories and they are either out of context, out of continuity, or out of character.
They both have a code, it makes them what they are.
I think this.
Right now, the most underrated character at DC Comics is Poison Ivy.
When she is given a proper spotlight, she steals every scene. Readers love her.
Why she doesn't get the treatment of Catwoman and Harley, I have no idea.
