I am pleased to announce the long-awaited arrival of my new D2 steel line of hunting knives. A slightly more "modern" knife with the same fine hollow grind and ease of sharpening that are key to the brand. Also a very nice upgrade in sheath quality. Link in next post.

If you learn to box, you don't need to be fat. There are 6 foot, 165lb guys out there who aren't anyone's victim. No one particularly cares what they "bench" either.
if youre above 15% bf you should be immediately trying to lose weight. Being 5'9 and 190lbs is overweight, moving your bench from 315 to 335 will have little impact on your life . Dropping to 165lbs will make you healthier and look a ton better. (Yes that's near what you should.

@Empty_America @SethLargo Heirs are more likely to keep their parents secondary residence (lake house, cottage, etc.) than their primary home . Families are formed around spending holidays and/or summers at these nature forward retreats.

One funny thing about Cowboys is they seem to largely be produced back East in Oklahoma and then migrate West to work on the big ranches. Not sure why this is, but I notice this very clearly. Most have heavy southern accents.

Upstate NYers will say that this is impossible. But they just lack wider experience. A HIGH percent of rural America operates at ~1% property tax rates. This is a very "normal" proposal. One case where "starve the beast" really is called for.

The real solution for Upstate NY and other "death spiral" areas is a hard-cap of property tax at 1% of value annually. No exceptions. If that can't fund things, things either go away or the State steps up and funds it from general revenue. Shock Treatment.
@Empty_America Taxes in NY are high at the county level because counties are responsible for their Medicaid funding. You’d see some savings moving to a county system but it would be mostly in administration salaries. The savings would be disappointing.

People are determined to believe that communities were more stable in the past, but it's not true. The working class in particular used to always be renters, and moved all the time. But they solidified into place like barnacles in the 20th century, largely due to welfare.
@Empty_America My family ended up in the Midwest because my 16yo great uncle heard there were jobs at Pontiac, then moved each brother up and eventually his parents. Very 3rd world immigrant coded in 2025.

How is that "economically ideal" 3.5% property tax working out for Upstate NY?. No one wants to live where you pay $3,500 a year on a falling down old farmhouse, plus every other possible tax. Wake me up when they CAPITULATE and hard-cap property tax at 1% of value annually.
Being from upstate NY it is very weird to hear it spoken of in this fashion. Where I'm from is rural but not that far from towns that have experienced growth. I had no idea I was part of a mass exodus when I left.

One benefit of the "Town" system in Upstate NY is that the towns are sometimes very inactive in enforcing things like zoning or building permits (which are always legally required in theory). So if they went to a county system, you might not be able to get away with as much.
