I met a lovely doctor in Gaza in 1990, who looked after children in the hospital there. He was also a leading Hamas spokesman, whose colleagues introduced me to the teenagers they were grooming for suicide bombings, balaclavas and all. Things are not always what they seem.

Don't see the equivalence. Few in Egypt supported the British (most of those who might have - Greeks, Jews, Armenians, etc - had already left). Taiwanese are clear they don't want Xi. Nor do Japanese, Philippines, Vietnamese, etc. Armed bluster won't work if people stand firm.

You just have to read the text to see that nothing was said about a Jewish state, and rights of Arabs/the existing population were protected. There were already Jews living in Palestine, not just in the Jewish quarter in Jerusalem but in eg Safed/Zfat for centuries.
