It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the East Bay in Congress for the last 26 years.

As I forge ahead, I wish you a bright future, always remembering it is our young people who deserve to inherit a clean planet and a peaceful world.  Listen to them, for they speak with clarity and deserve our support.  Thank you again for your trust and your support.

I have, and will continue to, fight for working families, the middle class, low income and poor people.   I am thankful for my staff, Team Lee, who have worked tirelessly to support our efforts and our district.

It has been the honor of a lifetime to provide constituent services, deliver federal investments to my district, speak out, and often times be the only one to take tough votes against the tide.

Together, as America’s most diverse community, we have raised our voices and pushed the envelope for peace, justice and equity.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of President Jimmy Carter. President Carter displayed a lifelong commitment to global peace, justice, and human rights. He inspired me and countless others.

On the second day of #Kwanzaa, we honor self-determination—or kujichagulia in Swahili. Kujichagulia symbolizes the fight for people of African descent to define, defend, and develop ourselves instead of letting others do it for us.

As we begin the seven days of Kwanzaa, I wish those celebrating a peaceful and reflective week. Today is dedicated to the principle of #Umoja, or unity.

Wishing everyone in the East Bay, California, and across the country a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. May this holiday season be filled with joy, warmth, and time spent with your loved ones.

Rickey Henderson was a baseball legend & an Oakland icon. He not only brought the A’s to new heights w/ his dazzling play, he was one of the many symbols of Black excellence in our great city. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on forever. May he rest in peace.

My last vote ever in Congress was to keep the government funded and avert a government shutdown that would have harmed vulnerable communities. Today’s Republican Party is showing the dangers of oligarchy. The fight to uphold a democracy for and by the people continues.

Let’s be clear: An unelected billionaire using his wallet and online bully pulpit to control the Republican Party is not democracy. The people of our country want a functioning government, not oligarchy.

Workers deserve the right to join a union and collectively bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions. Amazon must come to come to the table to negotiate. I am proud to stand with @AmazonTeamsters on strike across the country today.

Elon Musk is trying to take the role of unelected President. Will Republicans let him? Or will they side with the families, farmers, veterans, and seniors in our country that depend on keeping our government open?
