This reckless Tata-Tory bad deal for steel will devastate our local community by exporting well-paid jobs from Port Talbot to India.
The alternative Multi-Union Plan - supported by Labour - is a detailed, serious, robust and compelling proposal for the future of our steelworks.
Unions have warned of a bitter fight ahead, saying their plans to avert thousands of job losses at Tata Steel in south Wales have ben rejected by the company

It was great to be out in Milton Keynes (Danesborough & Walton ward) campaigning for our outstanding

candidate Rukhsana Malik. Really warm reception for Rukhsana on the doorsteps, and for Labour’s positive and transformative change agenda 👍👍👍
The Tata-Tory bad deal for steel saw the UK Govt hand £500m to Tata, who are making up to *9,500* steelworkers & supply chain contractors redundant.
So what conditions did the UK Govt ask Tata to sign up to on preserving jobs, in exchange for £500m?
No answer from the Minister:
🗳 Today is polling day for the Police & Crime Commissioner election for South Wales 🗳
Don't forget you need ID to vote in this election - you have until 10pm to vote!

has visited Aberavon regularly to listen to constituents' concerns 🌹
Experts have confirmed steel job losses could ⬆️ from 2,800 to 9,000, once contractors & supply chains included.
Reckless Tory-Tata deal must be dropped, & the multi-union plan adopted.
I urge Tata & UK Govt to save these jobs by choosing bridge to the future, not a cliff edge.
🚨NEW: A confidential report sets out the dire impact Tata Steel’s restructure could have on other jobs - and what needs to happen to avoid the worst case scenario
Great to visit Margam Castle to hear about exciting plans to renovate parts of the castle. A fascinating building with a rich history & these plans would give it a new lease of life. Delighted to have supported their bid for funding & look forward to seeing this project progress

are at risk of redundancy because this government lacks the ambition to back our steel industry, as
@UKLabour
has pledged to do.
The Welsh Secretary has said "no one will be left behind" if jobs are lost. I will hold him to account every step of the way.
2800 steelworkers in Aberavon have given their all to an industry underpinning our economy & security, yet face losing their jobs - as is true of thousands more contractors in supply chain.
Welsh Secretary has promised no worker will be left behind. We'll be holding him to this
This latest farce exposes the total lack of grip the Conservatives have over the asylum system and the chaos of their Rwanda policy.
Labour has a plan to reverse the Tory collapse in removals with a 1000-officer returns unit and to smash the criminal smuggler gangs.
NEW: The Home Office can only locate 38 per cent of the migrants it intends to deport to Rwanda.
Only 2,143 of the 5,700 of the migrants Rwanda has agreed to accept "continue to report to the Home Office and can be located for detention".

How will the Tories fund their £46bn a year commitment? Currently this money goes to fund pensions and the NHS.
My colleague
@JonAshworth
here putting the questions the Tories can’t answer.
Delighted to visit
@ysgolmaesycoed
following their excellent inspection report
I was given a tour of the school & shown the wonderful facilities they have to help pupils like the hydropool & soft play. I was really impressed by the dedication and passion of staff!
What the Home Secretary mysteriously fails to mention is that returns of foreign national offenders and failed asylum seekers have fallen by 27% and 44% respectively since Labour left office in 2010....🤨🤔
Each year April 28th marks International Workers Memorial Day, a day of remembrance for workers who have lost their lives at work.
Today my thoughts are with those who tragically lost their lives or were injured in the blast furnace disaster at Port Talbot steelworks in 2001.
Outstanding campaign session in

this morning, despite the chilly weather! Really good reception on the doorsteps, with a clear message to Rishi Sunak: we’ve had enough of all the chaos and incompetence

First we had Thèrése Coffey not knowing that Kigali is the capital of Rwanda, and now we have Chris Philp not knowing that Congo is a different country to Rwanda…
They're sending £576m to a country they can’t even pick out on a map… 😳
