To the remainers who are saying they don’t want Labour because Starmer said make Brexit work, you realise it’s either him or the Tories who are ideologically wedded to Brexit right? You might be able to afford another 5 years of austerity but I can’t
“It’s a shame. He’s a constituent of mine.”

Speaking to
@NickFerrariLBC
, Emily Thornberry seems quite zen about Owen Jones leaving the Labour Party.
If there were photos of Keir Starmer’s father in law with Vladimir Putin you know damn well the media would never shut up about it and the Guardian would be dancing to the same tune. Spare me this pearl clutching.
At the end of the day Esther Ghey *chose* to meet with Keir Starmer *at her request* . Maybe before tweeting this you could think about why she’s not doing the same with Sunak.
Every murder is a tragedy. None should be trivialised by political point-scoring. As a mother, I can imagine the trauma that Esther Ghey has endured.
It was shameful of Starmer to link his own inability to be clear on the matter of sex and gender directly to her grief. (1/2)
Starmer came from a working class family and became the top UK prosecutor. Rayner left school at 16 and rose through the union ranks. Thornberry grew up in poverty after her parents divorce. Streeting was raised by a single parent in a council estate. Lynch should get informed
Another little gem from the
@NewStatesman
article on Mick Lynch. It might be an idea to actually look into the backgrounds of Labour's front bench MPs before passing judgement. This working class person can relate to them at any rate.
I have a lot of respect for many of the things Mick Lynch says, but to go around saying that Labour is just Tory Lite shows a very surface level understanding of Labour's policies and is deeply frustrating.
If you’re more offended by Labour using a very standard meme template than by Rishi Sunak attacking the mentally ill then maybe your priorities are in the wrong place.
This is a NIMBY argument disguised as left wing. Yes you can do more to tackle oligarchs buying up homes and leaving them empty but that is a drop in the ocean. Until you increase supply there will be a housing crisis.
“Just building more homes on its own is not going to tackle the housing crisis”
Green co-leader Carla Denyer says the housing crisis needs to be addressed by making homes that are built more affordable and “bringing empty homes... into use”

Except they have? 1.5 million new homes, NHS recruitment plan including dentists, 13k new police officers, devolution and the green prosperity plan. You might not like them but they’re there. Do proper analysis.

Harry Cole being incredibly disingenuous here. Starmer should ask him if Cole thinks Rebekah Brooks didn’t deserve representation when Starmer was prosecuting her for phone hacking. Feel like the answer might be different.
Keir Starmer explains to Harry Cole how law works, after he tries the ‘you represented unsavoury characters’ nonsense.
“Lawyers represent clients. Doctors treat patients. The fact a doctor treats a patient doesn’t mean the doctor agrees with what the patient’s beliefs are.”
If you’re the Home Secretary and your name is trending with Rohypnol then you should resign from the frontbench and from parliament and disappear from public life
During the Corbyn years, Sadiq Khan consistently and without fail always engaged with the Jewish community in London and spoke out against antisemitism. To label him an antisemitism enabler is downright defamatory.
Find it hilarious that there are people on the left implying that Starmer is some secret Thatcherite when a brief look at his legal career would show you he did more to fight her government than many of these armchair thinkers could dream of.

I don’t expect Mick Lynch or any union leader to agree with everything Labour says, but to say they’re not standing up for workers whilst they’re in Parliament *at that moment* opposing anti strike laws is very disingenuous from Lynch. He needs to get his head out of his arse.

Far too many Labour members are way too soft and throw in the towel the moment Labour have a bad few days. The press ain’t on our side and we are flawed organisation. Instead of wallowing in self pity we should be pushing our positive message and forcing the party to improve.

No one has been expelled from Labour for wanting free university education, nationalised public utilities or rent controls (I’m in favour of the first two). They have been expelled for engaging in Anti Semitism, Putin apologia or encouraging people to vote against Labour.
No leader of the Liberal Democrats would ever say this about Thatcher. Has the Labour Party run out of heroes from within their own ranks or does Keir really prefer his political heroes to be Conservative?
Starmer is not a perfect leader and I get frustrated by some of his cautiousness, but good lord look how far we have come since he took over as leader. I would never expected us to be on the path to government so soon after such a terrible defeat.

One of the things simply not discussed enough is that Sunak is just plain rude when he doesn’t get his way. Deeply patronising towards Susanna Reid who correctly points out that waiting lists were already at all time high.

No Labour MP is cheering on war you sick f*ck, Labour put down an amendment calling for a pause which would then be used to negotiate a last peace. Disagreeing with that is totally valid but don't claim people are cheering war crimes.
UN experts have warned that we are witnessing a genocide in the making.
Home by home, hospital by hospital, generation by generation, Palestinians are being wiped out before our very eyes.
MPs had the chance to demand a ceasefire. The majority chose to cheer on war instead.

I agree words have a terrible impact. Events on Friday should serve as a reminder that words like "invasion" and "illegal" can have a real world impact.

It is valid to be frustrated by Labour’s overly cautious approach, I get annoyed too, but a brief glance at the actual policies they have announced and committed to will show the “Tory Lite” moniker is bull.
90% of cars are ULEZ compliant. If Khan wanted to have a cash cow he would have expanded the congestion charge zone which many more cars have to pay. The Tories just can’t stand that a Muslim man was elected as Mayor.
Keir Starmer made it to the vote from Scotland. Rishi Sunak was only 5 minutes away and couldn’t be bothered to get his arse driven to Westminster.
Weak.
Starmer arrived in the HoC before the vote - having travelled back from Scotland
Sunak still not arrived
