In 2020 @Moreincommon_ launched the British 7 Segments. After a pandemic, major global conflicts, political upheaval, cost of living crisis, changes in work/social/information habits it’s time to update them for 2025. Here’s an intro to our new tribes of Britain (Quiz link next)

Democratic societies rely on people like Jo being able to embark on public service unhindered by threats of violence and harm.

This anniversary is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to honouring her memory through our work. Jo’s murder and the murder of lawmakers everywhere, including this weekend in the United States, are tragedies for our democracies.

In the wake of that murder, More in Common was established. We take our name from Jo’s maiden speech in Parliament where she said: “We have more in common than that which divides us”.

Strangers in our own country? New research finds 50% of Brits feel disconnected and 44% sometimes feel like strangers - but it's a mistake to tie that just to immigration, with the cost of living, social media, decline of town centres & the legacy of covid big drivers.

Despite the polarized politics, what's surprising is how much Europeans and Americans – including Republicans – still share common ground over Ukraine. My article with @Moreincommon_ co-founder Mathieu Lefèvre:

If 2025 goes down as the year that the transatlantic alliance broke down, future historians will marvel at just how far national leaders strayed from the “grassroots” in Europe and America, note @Moreincommon_'s Mathieu Lefèvre and Tim Dixon.

Co dalej z wsparciem Ukrainy i wspólnotą transatlantycką? Spytaliśmy o to w 🇵🇱🇺🇸🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪. Najlepsza wiadomość jest taka, że po obydwu stronach Atlantyku doceniamy znaczenie walki Ukrainy przeciwko Rosji. Więcej w nitce o świeżutkim badaniu sondażowym @Moreincommon_ 🧶👇

🆕Polling of 🇬🇧🇩🇪🇫🇷🇵🇱🇺🇸 on Ukraine finds: Clear majorities do not think Russia will stop at Ukraine, Starmer's approach popular at home & abroad, less than 50% of Brits now call the US an ally, Europeans ready to go it alone, but only in UK do majority back sending peacekeepers🧵

Released today, our report Between Hesitation and Hope reveals that Americans recognize AI’s potential and feel a mix of skepticism and concern. Americans find AI inspiring and exciting, but also worry GenAI will make society more distrusting, divided, dependent, and dumb. (1/4)

🚨🧵 Failure to tackle hardship could be as damaging to Labour as the Lib Dems u-turn on tuition fees, new @Moreincommon_ research for @jrf_uk shows. Those who voted Labour in July have high expectations the Govt will tackle hardship, but many think things are going the wrong

Religious identities – like those explored in Promising Revelations – are important to our team members, too. Read how More in Common US's Executive Director Jason Mangone thinks about faith in his own life. https://t.co/MJOFYMrcMz

Far more Americans think that faith is all about politics than is actually the case. And that misconception is harming the power of faith as an American institution.
