Was listening to a podcast about Supersize Me the other day and a key detail is that the doctors are like "wow, your liver is fucked, what is in McDonalds?" and the creator goes "wow, McDonalds kills livers" and about 5 years later he admitted he'd been an alcoholic at the time.
There's this myth that McDonalds is the very worst food you can eat, far worse than any other food and it's actually not much worse than something like Subway or indeed M&S sandwiches. It's just processed food like fucking everything we eat. Supersize Me was a scam.

About a decade ago, we got burgled and they stole my laptop. Luckily, I had installed tracking software, and could give the police the address of the fence they had taken it to.
They went, told me it looked like a legitimate IT guy, and he told them it wasn't stolen.
I got mugged at knife point not all that long ago, by four guys who also beat me up for passwords/PINs.
Police promised me it was a “high priority crime” and then didn’t even manage to collect relevant CCTV footage, which both they and I had confirmed existed.

Wetherspoons pubs also act as a de facto social centre (with beer) for lots of older people, & a low-cost dining option for many families. The chain has also won lots of awards for how it treats it staff. I’m not saying they’re without fault, but they’re successful for a reason.
