My garden 🌿 and its transformation. Bits and bobs around 💞 Cheltenham. Few musings on the World. Bit of bants. Trigeminal neuralgia & myelitis battler 🥳
It's always good to look back to see achievements. 4 pictures here from my garden, 2 from June 2022 & 2 from June 2024. Just 2 years from near mono culture to a riot. I admit I am quite pleased with myself even though I have quite a way to go 💞🌿

A lot of religious things are nicked from indigenous populations. It's all down to assimilation. I do like a hot cross bun, but like over 50% of the UK population I am not religious at all. Easter eggs are a rip of though so I will stick to my kit kat.
@theAliceRoberts
Hot Cross Buns are more than 2,000-years-old, and are Pagan in origin, not Christian.
The cross is thought to represent the seasons, which they were obsessed with.
There were crosses before Jesus.
That's actually why he died on a cross. They'd already been invented. See?
@Rylan
Wow. Why blur the usernames of these awful homophobes? Thank you massively for doing the show. I cannot understand why women's football does not have as much of an issue. Sport and football should be about inclusivity for all 💓
@CliveWismayer
The moon is drifting away though so astronomically eclipses won't be around for long. We just happen to be living in the period of time that this does happen. Personally I blame Slartibartfast.
@theAliceRoberts
I had to do a fact check on that one and it seems your son's school are not the only ones that think this. In fairness whilst incorrect, can see the narrative though, rebirth, resurrection, eggs etc. personally for me they symbolise capitalism and a healthy waste line 😂
@sixteenthCgirl
A workman came to my house for a quote. Explained how tricky it would be (pointing a 🧱). I felt the quote was expensive. He paused & then said he should better speak to my husband 👋 I got a new quote from a less condescending guy which he did very well and for half the price.

Quite a few people seem to get away with stripping companies and then letting them fold. There should be consequences for this, and more severe ones when those companies are vital to health and safety.
@HackedOffHugh
Bauxite. No one has put forward a hypothesis on how it's in Provence. I can help: This piece was likely formed from the Tennessee Atlantic ridge prior to the split from Europe during the early crustaceous period. It's well known to form from the fossilisation of young brachiopods

This story reminds me of the Derwent Pencil museum in the English Lake District, Charles Fraser-Smith and the not so humble 'pencil map' and his work on Operation Mincemeat

Hi, yes some ash trees c.5% have good resistance to the disease. Years ago when I was a child many Elm trees were culled to prevent Dutch Elm disease spreading. Research is now showing that culling all elm trees was a mistake as they too have a resistant %age.

This is lovely. My daughter is also 12 & she produced this, it is a lovely age. She applied for a school art scholarship but wasn't successful. This hasn't put her off. Art is a beautiful subject & I hope your daughter continues to produce lovely work & enjoy it just like mine 💕
@ClareBreedon
I've taken this picture off Pinterest. I would go down this route to give some height & visual interest. I'd stay away from grass as it is 'just one thing' & you can have fun with lupins etc at the back. A Lakeland slate version could work too as a rockery, divided into sections.
@vicderbyshire
Imagine if he'd spent all this government, civil service and legal advisory time and expense on our water industry, our NHS, our infrastructure, our trading partners, our wider backlog of court cases ... Just imagine that.
@mariellaf1
Specialist teams like the outsourced failed PIP advisors 😵💫. Such a good track record in this sphere... How much is this going to cost the UK and not just in money??!
Just put in some forgetmenots with the white mountain tulips by the scrub land next to the garage. Taken from splitting out a larger clump at my neighbours house. No need to get everything from garden centres. Also noticed my wallflowers are seeding so will split them tomorrow.
Good morning 🌞 this weekend we bought a 2nd hand turquoise table & 3 chairs from a lovely bric a brac farm shop
#Cowshed
on Coombe Hill. Quite a relief to have a set of 3 as that is the size of our family 💞 always a 4 & we have a missing person 🙃 looks 👍 in the daisies 🌺
Ten years ago we bought a garden sphere. Despite being a great extravagance, it has given me more peace and happiness in our garden than I ever thought. We even moved it to our current house 3 years ago and it is still my place for calm 🕊️💕

Awful that so many posters are making cruel remarks. A man has died by suicide. Perhaps other than sending condolences we should be considering why suicide of especially men is so high? This is a tragedy and certainly not a joke. The below is from

Did you know it is illegal to pick bluebells in the UK? If you walk over them to get to a "better insta spot" you may kill the bluebell, or stop it from regrowing for 7 years. The leaves are so delicate, when squashed they cannot get enough regrowth energy back into the bulb 😔🚫
I've just added chive flowers to my salad for the first time. In all my 50 odd years why have I not done this before because they taste lovely? I do like a good garden forage.. and that is not a euphemism 🥗 Even chucked a few petals on the buttered corn on the cob. Pretty 💕

It's more disconcerting that HM Treasury is doing political party marketing & bragging that it doesn't understand global economics. Happy to paint a lie that inflation is lowering because of their "plan" but when inflation was rising it was "all someone else's fault" The irony!
Last year my father died, today would have been his 90th birthday. Cyprus was one of his favourite holiday destinations so I am posting this wonderful succulent in his memory 🌿🌞. I love the way the light travels through it's leaves 💞

Honestly, you are both great 💪💫. I cannot thank you enough for the amazing work you are doing highlighting the disgusting state of our waterways and the disgraceful management of those companies managing them 💩💩💩

So I got 137,500 views for my hot cross bun and kitkat post yesterday & this morning X has shut down some functionality on my account, the algorithms assuming I am a bot 🤖. It looks gorgeous outside with the🌞☀️ 🌞so after my morning coffee I'm going back to garden pot planting!
🌸🌸🌸 This is a purple mountain sun daisy. I've had her in this pot for years and she comes back reliably every year 💕 Did you know that the word daisy comes from the Old English for "days eye" as daisies open at dawn and close at dusk. I think that's rather lovely 🌞
Garden inspection done ✅ first poppy up this morning!! 😁 This is Papaver Royal Wedding. In later Old English etymology, the poppy was known as popig 🐷, I like this a lot

I love planting & enjoy seeing the spring garden come to life. This morning was particularly noisy, not my neighbours but the bees 🐝 Did you know that bees quack? True. They are the alternative quacks to ducks & medics 🫣 this is a bumbler on my lithodora
@RallyChick79
As much as I used to hate this when I lived there, the tourists prop up the local economy. There are plenty of times September to pre easter and then between post easter and June that it is so quiet you can walk for miles without being disturbed.
Crikey, just been accused of working for Nestle or Cadbury! Give a girl a moment of Twitter Fame 🤣. Never been viral before... For the record... I don't! 🐰 🍫
Anyone else here got rosemary growing out of a bath in their garden? Or for that matter been sold a house with two baths left in the garden?! Of course, there was only one thing to do... Plant in them! 🌺🌹💐
Just visited a relative and did something for the first time, gave her a bunch of home grown flowers 🌹🌷 I am proud of my efforts over the autumn and winter. A personal touch 💕

This might save her nice green neolithic dress: Records of period management suggest women in the Stone Age (c.30,000 BCE–3,000 BCE)had basic pads made of leather & linen-wrapped moss & sand. Ancient Egypt had reusable loin cloths & basic tampons made of papyrus and grass. Comfy.

I have to say

I am super impressed. This is probably one of the best threads I've read for a very long time with not just opinions but plenty of data to back them up.
The only thing I need now is the popcorn 🍿🍿🍿
Thank you for being on the side of the people 👌💯
A busy day at all British henge sites, as staff work to move the stones forward an hour. Twice a year the stones at Avebury are moved for Daylight Saving Time.

Good morning 🌞 well it isn't quite as drippy as it was yesterday in some parts of the UK, which was of course a no rain news day. Despite this the overcast conditions today have not stopped the pop of colour in the garden 🌿💞🌸😍 things can indeed only get better 🌺🌹 x

A little gathering around Liverpool & the Wirral which is no surprise ⛵. I was brought up in Crosby, then later lived in Åreby in Sweden. I was struck by the number of etymological cross overs locally like Ullådalen .. Ullswater from the God Ullr ⚔️ 🔨

The saxifrage is loving the sunshine this afternoon. In our house we call it sexy fridge, I actually have no clue why... It's name comes from the Latin saxum for rock & frangere for break. I think all it's doing here though is breaking hearts ❤️🌞

Contrary to popular belief Barbie pink was not a creation of Ruth Handler in 1959. This pink found in your limewash was first used at the 1296 battle of Dunbar when the Scots all wore special pink tweed. Evidence was disputed until carbon dated cloth was found at a dig at Ettrick
Happy Chocolate Sunday!
Always remember, if you feel like you've been ripped off on the price of Easter eggs. I spent £6 on a jar of moose poo.
Have a lovely day 💝
Just taken advantage of the sunshine with the dogs ☀️ Also did some potting. Yes that is a bath in the garden... the previous owner left it there so I stuffed it full of plants. Looks great with giant allium in the Summer!
Looking wistful ... These are chives I bought from Sainsbury's 3 years ago & rather than throw them out when I didn't use them up I popped them in the garden. Still can be eaten of course & the flowers make pretty edible decor to a salad 🌿

Nationalisation alone will not be the answer. There needs to be an exit plan, something where the end game is clean water and sewerage solutions that does not bankrupt the tax payer. Enforced regulation and importantly consequence management. All lacking currently.
Our bric a brac buying didn't stop at our turquoise missing chair set... Just... don't... blink ... 😳💕 she's very heavy! Had to work out how to shift her like a sarsen stone across the lawn 🙃🌿

I watched Queen Charlotte on Netflix this week. Very good however I was using subtitles and I was constantly irked by this 'British' drama being subtitled in American English. I did an inward huff, every, single, time.

Because education and the provision of education has always been a charitable endeavour since the Victorian times whomever it is paid by and how. It deeply concerns me that any government could label education from cradle to grave as anything other than this.
Apparently Michael Mosley has been likely found, and it is not good news. I am so very sad. I met him
