It's a very good point. Are any of the roughly 8.5 million people in England currently suffering under a hosepipe ban getting a discount on their water bills for a reduced service?. IT'S THE WATER INDUSTRY. Of course not.

@Feargal_Sharkey Don’t worry @Feargal_Sharkey they have bought in a hosepipe ban to cover the cost of the fine! Reduced service should equate to reduced bills @YorkshireWater .Still looking for your Yorkshire Water Aid ads at cinemas👇

Oh look, yet another water company fined for polluting a river and killing fish and does any of it make a blind bit of difference? . Of course not. Now what about that "oh but we're going to send water company executives to jail", any chance of that happening?. Of course not.

"British air traffic is run like a water company. That’s why it failed,". What a day for the water industry. You have now become a benchmark for failure and incompetence. Bravo, well done. 👏👏👏.

In case you missed it in one of its last dying breaths before being axed Ofwat has allowed water companies to double, yes double the amount they pay back on their steaming piles of debt from £11,057,000,000 in 2019 - 2024 to £22,047,000,000 in 2025 - 2030. And guess who gets to.

Ofwat proposes that Anglian Water pays £62.8m for sewage dumping. £57m forced investment in infrastructure + £5.8m in local environment projects. It should do that anyway. Will improve its balance sheet, and future returns. There is no penalty.

"Water reform: From Ofwat to what?". I find myself wondering, how many of the former chairs and board members of @Ofwat and the @EnvAgency would now like to apologise for the abominable, extraordinary mess they've created and the tens of billions of pounds liability they've now.

Now that @AnglianWater has been fiend £62.8 million for "excessive" sewage dumping how long do we think it will before @BBCNorfolk run a little puff piece? 🤔.

"Anglian Water ordered to pay £63m for sewage failures. An investigation by Ofwat found that the company had systematically failed to manage its wastewater treatment assets effectively since 2017.". So here's one of @Ofwat's little tricks, note the "since 2017". That's the period.

So @AnglianWater has been fined £62.8 million for illegally dumping their sewage into the environment. In an act of self-pity CEO Mark Thurston, said: “We understand the need to rebuild trust with customers and that aspects of our performance need to improve to do that.". Would.

Of course what Ofwat is tying to mask here is what we've known all along, and which they denied, sewage should only ever be dumped in "exceptional circumstances" or as they now admit, the legislation that @AnglianWater has broken, sewage works must be "designed. constructed,.
