For this week’s @ftweekend I’m at Shwen Shwen, Maria Bradford’s new restaurant celebrating the earth and fire flavours of Sierra Leone: chicken with palm butter, shrimp with lemongrass gel, moringa cream millefeuille and many other lovely things.

Some new restaurant openings are like Big West End shows. All the critics descend and today I’m on duty for @ftweekend at Town by Stevie Parle. It’s a total show stopper, full of dipping gravy, risotto with bone marrow and courgette fritti.

For this week’s @ftweekend restaurant review, I’m talking tip integrity, bia doughs and (almost) the best pizza I’ve ever tried with the rise of Breadstall, on SoHo’s Berwick Street.

For today’s @ftweekend I am at Berut Bistro which, as the name suggests is a delightful small Lebanese restaurant in London’s Marylebone serving many great dishes including the Beirut Cloud, my dessert of the year so far, and quite possibly beyond.

Very sad news from Manchester. Medlock Canteen was one of the best openings in the city in years. Proof if it were needed of how brutal it is out there for hospitality for now.

Our JR Sextet June London date, on Tuesday week, is down to the last dozen or so. Meanwhile we're playing at the Marlborough festival next Saturday night. All on the shows page.
