Today’s natural capital accounts estimate the current value of our natural wealth, and what it could provide for current and future generations. In 2023, the total asset value of ecosystem services we can currently value in the UK was £1.6 trillion.
Today we’ve released two separate publications, which seek to go beyond GDP, focusing on things not captured by traditional measures of the economy – the new household satellite account and our latest UK natural capital accounts.

The household satellite account estimates the value of unpaid household services, such as cleaning and childcare. The value of these services was £1.2 trillion in 2014 (around 62% the size of GDP) and £1.7 trillion (around 61% of GDP) in 2023. ➡️ https://t.co/3gSJ6SOv4n

The System Price of electricity decreased by 16% in the week to 30 Nov 2025 compared with the previous week. The System Average Price of gas decreased by 6%. Both decreased compared with the equivalent week of 2024 by 28% and 35%, respectively. ➡️

Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders data (seasonally adjusted) show in Oct 2025 the number of new vehicles produced in the UK rose 4% compared with Sept 2025. This was down 35% when compared with Oct 2024, following phased recovery from a cyber incident in Sept 2025.

The value of foreign companies acquiring UK ones in Quarter 3 (July to Sept) 2025 was £7.9 billion, £1.8 billion less than the value in Quarter 2. The value of UK companies acquiring foreign ones was £3.4 billion, £0.2 billion higher than in the previous quarter.

The value of UK companies acquiring other UK companies was £5.3 billion in Quarter 3 (July to Sept) 2025, £1.9 billion higher than in Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2025. However, the number of deals was the lowest since Quarter 4 (Oct to Dec) 2017.
