Make no mistake, this is a Govt taking power&decision making away from people And these shambolic amendments to the #PlanningBill, tabled last minute, build on months of lies from @RachelReevesMP pathetically scapegoating nature for a struggling economy https://t.co/kcD4n3KJt8

🚨@Natures_Voice CEO @BeccyRSPB & @WildlifeTrusts CEO @CraigBennett3 have a message for the UK Gov: The “Build Baby Build” agenda is putting wildlife at risk. MPs must strengthen Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) making sure new developments leave nature in a better state than before.

Nature isn’t the enemy of housing—it’s essential for healthy communities. Scapegoating wildlife won’t speed up building, but it will cost us vital habitats. The EAC report is clear: stop this lazy narrative, fix skills shortages, and protect our environment.

Nature is not the blocker to 1.5 million homes, instead it’s a necessity for building resilient towns and neighbourhoods. Read our new report on environmental sustainability and housing growth ⬇️ https://t.co/DnGBmKONEQ

Yesterday, the @GOVUK ignored pleas from the public, civil society and cross-party parliamentarians and stripped vital wildlife protections from the Planning & Infrastructure Bill. This is hugely disappointing, but we are not giving up. (1/3)

Nature and housing can go hand in hand. We’ve seen it in the past with garden cities—and now towns planned within a new forest. They show what’s possible. Empower councils to build sustainable council housing that puts people and nature before profit.

With this devastating decision by @SteveReedMP today, being told what to do by #Nature hating @RachelReevesMP, this @UKLabour Govt is causing probably the biggest weakening of environmental protections I can remember in this country Mark my words, it will come back to bite them

I thought @lisanandy was very good on @BBCr4today just now Very fair and measured in pointing out where the #BBC has got things wrong, but also very clear about how incredibly important the #BBC is and why, as Brits, we should be immensely proud of it and prepared to defend it

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #Planning bill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

⚠️Planning bill update ⚠️ as expected Labour was whipped into voting down every amendment that would protect nature from this bill. They rejected the most basic fluffing protections for endangered species. They even rejected saving chalk streams! Now it goes back to the Lords

Astonishing hypocrisy from Charles Moore, on @BBCr4today, criticising @BBCNews for "political bias" and using "climate" as evidence of this No. Accurate reporting of #climate science is NOT political It's those that claim it to be political that are being blatantly partisan
