Breathtaking views and exotic moths, is this paradise?
This clip, shared with us by Robert Campbell, shows a cloud of Milionia basalis, a day-flying moth from Cambodia, taking a keen interest in Robert and his camera.
Likely extracting vital salts from perspiration on his hands.
One of the most incredible examples of camouflage; the Dead Leaf butterfly of Tropical Asia.
When a bird or other predator gets too close, the Dead Leaf closes its wings, rendering itself virtually invisible to the would-be killer!

The cloud of Milionia basalis, a day-flying moth, are thought to be attracted to the perspiration from the hands of photographer Robert Campbell, from which they can extract vital salts.

These are real, actual butterflies. The Green Dragontail butterfly (Lamproptera meges), from Southeast Asia, is one of the smallest species of swallowtail butterfly and one of the very few species with wing transparency.

Another Humming-bird Hawk-moth (Macroglossum stellatarum), this one filmed by Thom Harris on the 5 March in Portsmouth!
These migrant moths arrive in the UK every year from southern Europe and North Africa but increasingly spend the winter here, sheltering in outdoor buildings.
The Crimson Speckled is one of our rarer autumn arrivals, with limited recorded sightings in the last 100 years
But last year saw a large influx of these funky moths 👉
