virgin ancestors: use every part of the cow, have different recipes for preparing each one to ensure safety
chad moderns: use every part of the cow by turning it into pasteurized pink slime
So one time in the 60s scientists were like "maybe we can eat sterilized bacteria, that would sure be convenient for space travel" and some poor volunteers got their GI tract absolutely wrecked by LPS-induced diarrhea.
@JenYetAgain
Big advantage of trans people being early adopters: they absolutely have control over the reach of almost everything in the fediverse. It's too mich power, really, but I can't be mad given how everything else is going.
You're dating a WHAT now?
Combat doll, yeah.
How even…
We met at that punk show last month, you know how we got separated but I texted you I was fine? Yeah, someone dislocated my arm in the pit, but it took me out back and fixed it.
Jeez..
@ConradBastable
Humanities are just more generally applicable, sorry. No matter what you're doing in engineering or science, interaction with people is part of it! Reading and writing well, and understanding our shared cultural heritage can help with any task.
@softminus
This strike must have a fascinating AAR: the way I've seen it described, the base got hit by some sort of SRBM, and the AC130 just happened to be nearby. Counter battery radar give them a vector and they went off hunting.
is this it? is this fucking it? everything is closed. mass misery where the rich have gotten richer and this is all the Democrats have got? that men are mean? jesus christ what’s the issue here, do you guys need adderrall or something?
@InstantSunrise
@CelticAnarchy
Let's be real there's no way to do this without serious harassment potential, people can always just search the tweet text.

@PunishedLorelai
yeah they just move into whatever the cheapest availiable retail space there is around, which can often be, like, a failing store that wants to get out of its lease early or something.
@poppy_haze
Sodium lamps were great because they were utterly monochromatic at a wavelength the eye was pretty sensitive to, so they delivered more illumination per photon at the cost of color discrimination.
@Theophite
It has to be a case of "the expected cost of the class action from all the fsd package buyers is still higher than the expected cost of wrongful death lawsuits" and they'll probably keep pretending until that's no longer the case and then add geofencing to keep it on highways.
@Pinboard
@ChadAChavez
More or less, yeah. There isn't a lot of room for civil disagreement on the issue, because it directly implicates the ability of trans people to just exist in public as unremarkable examples of their gender.
MANEKIN is a wooden domestic doll manufactured by IKEA of Sweden. Because of its low cost, it is a popular starter doll among college students and other young adults.
We got to talking while I was coming down from it all and decided to go for all-night tacos; things just went from there. It's a medic but it doesn't just know how to treat pain, if you know what I mean…
You're one crazy motherfucker! A doll!
Yeah well it ships out with the 45th next month, gotta get while the getting's good! We should all hit the bars together sometime, it'll be fun! It's not as scary once you get to know it.
Are you sure you don't just *like* how scary it is?
@tara_chara
Right? Like nothing gets disabled in development: you can just switch out some molecules and your body will go "oh, it's time to do the girl thing? Alright!"
@eliyahuswitzer
@PDLComics
When the bird was carrying the clam it was all like "well at least this is more interesting than getting eaten by an octopus or something!"
This is taking off so I should mention: LPS is lipopolysaccharide, lots of bacteria use it to make their cell walls, and the immune system HATES it. It doesn't do anything really, but the inflammation response it provokes can be dangerous.
@growing_daniel
The thing about airbnb that makes it worth taking the risk on is it gets you into parts of the city that you wouldn't otherwise be able to stay in. Great for visiting family or friends bc of that.
Since the New Delhi Accords prohibit fully autonomous weapons systems, combat dolls are, technically speaking, human. Don't try telling one that, though, they don't like it. They just want to be called by their rank and serial number.
@punished_cait
I knew a guy in the sisters, he rented the house in front of ours. Really kind guy, kept a beautiful garden, always chatted with me when I was coming home from school.
@RodentMessiah
@SLKollmann
Vaccines for relatively rare and non-communicable diseases have a more unfavorable risk-benefit profile; you are going to vaccinate a lot of people who will never really be exposed to the disease, so adverse reactions have to be very, very rare to justify it.
Contrary to popular belief, turning a person into a doll is a slow process. Yes, the first part goes quickly, like blood spraying from an opened artery but after that, it slows down.
@softminus
The other symptoms reported are like textbook nonspecific immune system/inflammation responses too. Turns out the body knows what bacteria are and that they're not supposed to be there!
@alicemazzy
The story I've heard third-hand is that the g+ failure was a very traumatic event and the last true whole-company effort google undertook. Now everything is in these silos.
Why do people keep saying this? This has literally never worked in any country. You can blunt case spikes with lockdown but you need strong travel and entry controls and, frankly, armed enforcement and surveillance to actually go the zero covid route.
Hostile reminder that the government could, at any time, bite the bullet and shut down all non life supporting businesses, fire up the money printing machine to make sure no one loses anything, and completely eradicate Covid in less than 2 months.
@keyinsimplicity
@MEASURED_HEAD
Well, because of all the deep coal mining over the centuries much of the ruhr is below the local water table and would become a lake if they ever turned off the pumps in the old mines. I can understand not wanting to keep making that worse.
@MOOMANiBE
I think a thing that's important to remember is the absolute scale of internet virality has increased hugely. Time was you could slap some adwords ads on a viral web page and at least break even. I'm not sure there's a way for this guy to break even without making it his job.
@0xabad1dea
So annoying. You'd think "selling entries in a database" would be a good little business that was always worth running, but not for Google, I guess!
@Screamy_Dreamy
@gewt
It really is cool that you can swap a few hormones around and a fully grown body will be like "oh, you want that one now? Okay" and just does it.
@tara_chara
Even biochemically its convenient: Sterols that go straight through the cell and nuclear membranes and act directly on promoter proteins, no complex chain of signaling just some easy to synthesize cholesterol derivatives.
Doll with no object permanence, not even for itself. When you're not looking at it, it doesn't think it exists. When you're not thinking about it, it doesn't even think.
@KMRTMoose
@poppy_haze
The biggest risk is that unlike in videogames the wall isn't a smooth polygon, so you might get caught on something and have a nasty wreck. Also it damages the crash barrier so they might ban this if it gets popular.
@poppy_haze
For night lighting there really is nothing better than sodium vapor but they need replacement significantly more frequently than LEDs, the labor costs of which swamp the electricity savings.
@Gingerhazing
You express more with your images in their simple, sometimes shaky style than you maybe realize. I can never know if it's the same as the picture in your head but they definitely produce a detailed and emotional one in mine.
@heirtothehive
@Cosmic_Wyrm
I went as Harry Potter right after book 1 came out, and got a lot of confused "well that's a nice name..." from old people handing out treats.
@zeta_globin
I assume it gets oxidized to copper sulfate and then spirited away through ion channels to serve as a coenzyme of cytochrome c or whatever.
@revhowardarson
@zlingray
Ah but it looks cool and cynical so it's obviously the right line! Revolutionary defeatism without the revolution, that's the in thing these days.
The "true lockdown has never been tried" crowd on the left is annoyingly disingenuous about what that would need to look like, really. "Funding" wouldn't cut it, you'd need to arrange covid safe ways to get everyone food, figure out what non remote jobs you really need, etc.
This was a policy choice.
We could have shut down everything with government funding for 60 days back in early 2020 and then only had to deal with local outbreaks.
We chose not to do so.
@revhowardarson
The basic premise of conservatism in America is that if you just leave them to run their "peculiar institutions" they won't have to attack you. Merely existing is often too much of an imposition to tolerate, however.
The misgendering policy on twitter was one of the simplest and most impactful rule changes on this site, a rare example of a policy that's easy to enforce and had few unintended consequences. So of course that's gone.
@mattyglesias
I would be interested in the case for him made by someone who doesn't seem mostly interested in score settling from the last go round, for sure.
I always brought a few dolls along with me to the house parties. It was kind of my calling card; better to be known as “that weird guy with the dolls” than “that weird guy” simpliciter.
@opinonhaver
I think it's because it's unflattering to the academics, because their students do well but they don't do the things that the academics really pride themselves on doing.
@golikehellmachi
There's a nasty doom loop of conservatism where if you do enough of this and work really hard to drive away employers that attract educated people you do get a more conservative electorate.
@mtsw
The history of the 20th century is capitalism achieving material abundance and socialists, the previous champions of the very idea, having to go "well thats bad actually"
While cheap (or even free, depending on your local Doll Control Department's policies) these hearts usually suffer from abandonment psychosis and require significant reconditioning before they are suitable for reuse.
@KMRTMoose
@poppy_haze
Yeah this only makes sense on the final turn because the car is probably going to get damaged, at least the aero is. But if damage isn't simulated or you don't care as long as you win, it can work!
