@RubenKelevra So, I spent last night trying to figure out how to disconnect the WiFi on the washing machine. Once it’s configured, it won’t let you remove the WiFi config. Only change to another WiFi. Ended up blocking it on my router.

@Kensetsu6 @subhaminion I kid you not, LG has DLCs for their washing machine. I can download new wash cycles. First it was Call of Duty DLCs, now it’s LG Washing Machine DLCs. What’s next?

@Universal_Ken @RubenKelevra Then I’d need to go around the house and change the password on my Smart Air Fryer, Smart Dehumidifier, and Smart Meat Thermometer 🤣.

@AJMutschler That's the interesting thing. I believe that the washing machine was powered off at this time. It should automatically turn off after non-activity. What's interesting is that it was turned on and in use during the 2-3PM dip. Which is even more scary.

Hello #UberMoney! This is what my team had been building the last year. So proud of the dedicated eng that have pushed hard in the last couple of weeks to ship this product. As I've told my team this morning: This is just the beginning! #money2020.

@MathewCowden @Austen This showed the two sides of my Twitter feed. Non-tech people are 😍 about that picture. Tech people are 🥱. That’s a typical architecture diagram at 30k ft level that you would draw up during onboarding.

@PoliticalMessi @hkarthik I’m going to give a maybe controversial advice. Go travel or do something that you enjoy. The reality of it is that the next year is going to suck. You will never have a lower opportunity cost to do something you enjoy.

@anothercohen Silicon Valley is where a surgeon and Google engineer camp out on a sidewalk to buy our first house. (Circa 2014) Builder was doing set price first come first serve. We were third on line at 11pm near downtown Mt View.

Apple Card vs Libra. Comes down to trust issue. People trust Apple but not Libra. Demonstrates how corporate branding/DNA trickles into FinProd. #money2020

@ptashek_eire @GergelyOrosz The way I've always looked at it is testing isn't about making sure your code works now, but protecting that code from the future you. At some point down the road, you're going to make another change, test that that change worked but don't test that the rest of the code worked.

@semil When I was at Google, just two engineers were working on Google Finance. It was neglected. I wouldn't be surprised if it was redesigned without understanding the consumer. This may be a top down effort to "modernize" the UI to Material Design rather than improve.

@GergelyOrosz @SubstackInc One hypothesis here is that x.99 is used for commodity items where you’re competing on price. Luxury goods are typically whole number to show quality. I can see that people are paying for Substack for quality content. Pricing it at x.99 conveys to buyers the lack of quality.

@zachperret One of my biggest jobs in building FinTech in BigTech is instilling the importance and responsibility in managing peoples money. You can move fast, but breaking things is not an option. Instilling that culture is so critical top to bottom.

@jcgolfing @rexsalisbury Behind the scenes, Citibank is composed of dozens of banks acquired over time. For over 2 decades, they've been attempting to merge their backend systems. Account opened in NYC is different system than one you open in CA. This is why the website looks like it's from the 90s.

@thenftattorney @Itsjoeco Uber has a pretty significant investment in Lime with an option to acquire between 2022 and 2024. "The report said the companies had discussed giving Uber the option to buy Lime between 2022 and 2024 at a specific price.".

@travismlow @GergelyOrosz Hear me out. What if. * You were an Agent for a team of great software engineers. * And you bid them out to highest bidders.* They go from co to co building tech.* And to save time, you don't need this team to work onsite. Doh! I just described software contracting.

@chrysb @ycombinator I don’t disagree with this, but we are nearing the peak of the hype cycle. There will be a period of disillusionment before wide propagation. A couple of years ago, everyone was saying the same thing about Web3.

@rishmishra It’s all about CAC. You either lower CAC by building an interesting product (@chime @RobinhoodApp) or you solve CAC by extending a captive audience (@Facebook @google or @uber). It’s the same formula. Once you have that, the core fundamentals are the same but with a better UX.
