@twisteddoodles
A friend of mine worked for mail order photo developers Truprint. The staff found great satisfaction in putting advice stickers over any attempts at amateur porn, just so people knew someone had seen their embarrassing photos.
@dinosofos
This is high risk: discrepancies between interviews will be hugely analysed, while promises made in Lancs but not Yorks or Norfolk but not Suffolk set up other issues. Let alone the wearying effect of making the same points every 7 mins while still sounding bright and in control.
Thanks to all who came to Staining Village Hall tonight to listen and question. As I said at the end, on the anniversary of D-day, we should remember the price paid for our democracy. Whoever you choose to support, please vote.
@the_transit_guy
In the UK at least, light rail gets more people out of cars and into public transport than buses. So a cheaper way of doing it makes it an option for more places.
As another delay means missing my toddler's bedtime again, she suggests to her mum: 'I fix daddy's train?' To be fair, she'd do a better job sorting it than

I'm quick to complain about

"EHE set out the extensive background to the current situation. A lively debate followed."
That phrase covers everything from two mumbled remarks to a mass brawl.
Thanks to
@NSoApprentices
for a chance to hear from apprentices this afternoon.
We need to do more to champion those who want to follow this route, and those employers who support and encourage them. Especially in
#Fylde
, where apprenticeship starts are lower than in 2010.

I've never found out who decided the names either - was it Royal Mail, or someone at Lancashire County Council? The pattern suggests the work of one person or perhaps of one committee.
@stuartbruce
I'm not clear why we don't just set one national uniform, and put an end to this exclusionary nonsense. If schools then want a badge stitched on, they can provide one out of their own funds.
@ElectionMapsUK
This is the one I've been waiting for! Thank you. Especially great result for Labour in Wyresdale, where the Tories had 75% of the vote last time and Labour won with 58% this time.

Ground floor student flat in the summer. Wake up to heavy breathing outside my open window. It moves away. It comes back. This repeats. I look out. It's a badger circling the grass outside rooting for food.
@garius
It was plain Poulton until the penny post. At which point, the fact there's another Poulton in Lancashire became a problem for deliveries. Both of them got suffixed so we have Poulton-le-Fylde and Poulton-le-Sands. No idea why French though...
I don't have an off-the-books fund like the one Fylde's Conservatives have used to support their man, so the Fylde Labour team and I will depend on donations. We're grateful for any help you can offer.

@Lady_Historian
I second this - we have had these for 6/7 years now and they've held up really well, even when double stacked with books. Also, they have enough shelves to be easy to use without too much wasted space.

I like the idea of doing radical things at non-radical scale. Not possible for every change, but easier for people to absorb, see benefits and be more accepting of change.
So proper rail investment has been replaced by equipping trains with BorisBoost. You get pretty much the same service but you do have the PM telling you that it's so much better.

Took the little one to see What the Ladybird Heard -

Parents shouldn't have to choose between being a lawyer and being a mum or dad.
By framing this as a women's issue we marginalise stay at home/main caregiver dads, marginalise mums who are the main breadwinner, and normalise men failing to do their fair share at home.
We would just like to wish you all a fantastic Christmas period. We have posted our opening times just in case you need us. Hopefully we won’t form part of your Christmas memories

Also, any adjective in the opening of a press release. My personal peeve: if you have to describe something as exciting, it isn't.

There's another a couple of miles away in Poulton-le-Fylde. Given the rarity, I'm going to guess that's the shortest distance between two of these boxes.
I'm applying to be the

I think it can also be the accumulation of scars from all the previous badly-executed, poorly-explained changes that didn't deliver the promised benefits. There's a responsibility on those pushing the new change to learn from those experiences.
@Artemisapphire
Also worth noting that 'That's not good' is the appropriate response to news of an extinction level event, while 'That's not bad' is the highest level of praise.
@andywasley
The inability either to plan the timing of a press conference, or, if there was a plan, to deliver it on time, is the Government's Covid failings in microcosm.
@lisanandy
@northern_resist
90 minutes is less time than I was delayed last night! And I wasn't unusual or even the worst affected by this. I get the long-standing issues that Northern are facing but basic day-to-day operational management has failed and it's making a difficult situation a godawful mess.
Today we remember the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought on D-day and on through Europe. I was in Normandy earlier this year, and the communities there have not forgotten the high price paid for their freedom. Neither should we.
Today we mark 80 years since the D-Day landings, remembering the service and sacrifice of all those involved in turning the tide in the Second World War. 1/3

@UniofGreenwich
My uni are paying a 2% bonus this year for similar reasons. The national pay deal can only go at the speed of the weakest unis, so I'm expecting more of this as financially secure institutions step up (and just happen to make themselves more attractive to staff too...)
@ArbedYenip
Debra, I'm so sorry to hear that. This is why we want to tackle waiting lists. It's awful as a parent especially. You want your child to be healthy - heck, it's your job to help them be healthy - but you're stuck waiting and worrying.
@LouiseTeboul
Very true. It's often missed that 'women friendly' policies are 'people friendly' policies. Everyone benefits when employers are more flexible and compassionate. And employers get access to a wider pool of talent with a wider range of life experience.
Exclusive: Tories received legal advice that Mark Menzies's alleged misuse of campaign funds amounted to fraud but decided they weren't obliged to tell the police because it was donors' rather than party money, whistleblower claims.
Amusing to think that the

@J07542579
I meant that anyone should be able to start a round like that sounding enthusiastic, but keeping up the energy level - even if all's going well - is difficult. Every presenter is fresh and you're on repeat. And when it's going as badly as this morning...
@LouiseTeboul
I think there's something in this that could be part of 'leveling-up'. Facilities/services to support remote workers so they can have the advantages of a job in a better paid area with some of the backup that comes from being in an office. Can't address all issues but maybe some?

As during Covid, they'll rely on supermarkets setting limits as a way of getting rationing without taking responsibility. While repeating their line about the UK having robust supply chains ad nauseam.

@Shitlawns
A bird feeder and a nest box are quick additions. RSPB seed mixes work in our garden and profits support nature. Pots and tubs can go in there as it is. Chives and Lavender are both great for bees. If you can get a fruit tree in, do; eating your own is special. Herbs as well.

True but also that the 30-year veterans were those younger people once. I don't think anyone starts off resistant to change, but repeated disappointments will change people. Mutual intergenerational mentoring may help. Combine enthusiasm with the wary ability to spot pitfalls.
The Tories keep claiming betrayal, by an increasing list of supposed conspirators. In truth, they have been betrayed only by their incompetence and by putting self interest before the national interest.
🔴 EXCLUSIVE: Liz Truss is breaking her silence as she blames a "powerful economic establishment" and her own Conservative Party for her downfall.

No idea on the total, but organise a crowdfunding scheme like that done for Tornado and the answer could well be that it's affordable if done over time. I'd be in.
Anyone interested in analysing the extent to which hybrid or remote working will be a thing in the future, don't watch or read the opinion pieces or "I think X" commentariat, watch the housing market, sales of home office equipment, commuter dynamics, and job adverts.
