On #NationalSTEMDay, we honor pioneering computer scientist Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. RADM Hopper was a fervent advocate of innovative thinking. She believed that it was important to encourage young people to try their new ideas, and then provide them with support.

A Royal Navy aircraft carrier is at sea, embarking the biggest contingent of UK jets in almost 50 years. Hopefully the "carriers without planes" types will now finally go and find something else to moan about!

I find this 'poppy outrage' tedious. Its a personal choice on whether to wear one or not. That is at the heart of the freedoms we enjoy as a result of others sacrifices. Publicly policing others private choices is tiresome and undermines the whole point of Remembrance.

When asked why the SBS needed limpet mines, the response from CGRM was that all their limited stock was WW2 vintage and the mine obsolete - "provision from US sources would give the SBS a more reliable and effective ship attack capability".
