On 15 August, we’re hosting a Service of Remembrance to commemorate VJ Day 80 at the @‌Nat_Mem_Arb. Veterans who contributed to the campaigns in the Far East and the Pacific, or their families on their behalf, can register to join the commemorations here:

“It’s changed my life.”. Army veteran, Paul, developed a spinal condition that left him with very limited mobility to do many of the things he loved. Thanks to our support, we were able to fund his mobility scooter and get him back on the moors with his dogs.

Sam always dreamed of joining the RAF and working in medicine. She achieved that after qualifying in 2017, and later caring for Covid-19 patients. However, a knee injury at an athletics event led Sam to another purpose - competing for Team UK at the 2025 Invictus Games. (1/2)

Today is Armed Forces Day – a chance to say thank you to all those serving. From peacekeeping to humanitarian aid and emergency response, their work protects us at home and abroad. Their service and sacrifice must never be forgotten.

RAF veteran Wayne moved from Barbados to the UK aged 8, joining his Windrush-generation parents. Like so many others who came to Britain then, he made significant contributions, rising through the ranks and breaking barriers as the first black Warrant Officer to complete IOT.

Today marks 85 years since the sinking of HMT Lancastria – the worst maritime disaster in British history. Over 3,500 lives were lost when the ship was bombed and sank during the evacuation from France. We remember the lives lost and the courage and sacrifice of those who served.

“Finding a job that gave me a sense of pride and competing in the Invictus Games allowed my boys to see me walking with my head held high.” After a medical discharge, Army veteran Liam faced many challenges. With RBL’s help, his children watched him overcome them.

In recent years it was our honour to host him when he attended our commemorative events to mark the 80th anniversaries of D-Day and VE Day. We send our deepest condolences to John’s family and friends. 2/2

We are saddened to share that WW2 veteran, John Davies, passed away peacefully last week at the age of 102. Born in Liverpool, John served on various ships during the war, transporting troops and supplies all over the world. 1/2
