Today Parliament passed the Rare Cancers Bill. This will lead to more focus for developing rare cancer drugs. In this job you have the privilege of turning personal grief into real change. I did that today speaking about losing my brother Alex to a rare cancer earlier this year.

The Israeli attack on Qatar undermines the peace talks currently underway. Such a blatant breach must face consequences. I raised this in the House of Commons today.

A really fantastic day at the Norland Scarecrow Festival, from the wired and wacky to the downright fun. My family and I had an amazing time despite the rain. Thanks to the community in Norland and all the fantastic organisers

I am immensely proud to know ⁊@AngelaRayner⁩. I am immensely proud that through our party someone with an unimaginably hard childhood went on to be deputy prime minister. She has shaped our return to power and made our country a better place as a result.

Our hospitality industry defines our towns. It’s where people meet and communities come together. As part of my work engaging with local businesses over recess I spoke to lots of pubs about what support they need. I raised some of the issues they told me about including the

For the Tories to lose one deeply unpleasant former minister to reform is unfortunate, but to lose two feels like carelessness!

Extending childhood vaccines is safe, sensible and positive. I welcome this and hope we can continue to promote keeping our children safe from preventable illness

Chickenpox is common. Usually it is just unpleasant, but it can be severe or life threatening. A long established vaccine to prevent it will be offered to all children rather than only those who can pay. Immunity by vaccination is safer than by infection.

We're launching a chickenpox vaccination programme which will protect around half a million children each year. From January 2026, eligible children will get an MMRV vaccine to protect against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox. Eligibility will be announced in due course.

This is a much under appreciated fact. We wouldn’t stand for our NHS being funded based on historic property values in the area, yet social care is funded that way.
