Today Parliament passed the Rare Cancers Bill. This will lead to more focus for developing rare cancer drugs. In this job you have the privilege of turning personal grief into real change. I did that today speaking about losing my brother Alex to a rare cancer earlier this year.

It’s time to get serious about our water system. In Yorkshire we had floods and now a hose pipe ban with rivers still full of waste. A new regulator is an important first step.

I just spent almost 2 hours trying to speak on the foreign secretary’s statement on Gaza without success. The fact that so many were trying to speak should send a clear message. Parliament wants action on the increasingly clear breaches of international law by Israel’s government.

We had some great conversations with residents in Elland today- albeit it has to be said the weather was more agreeable for the morning session. Thanks to everyone who took the time to talk to us today. A lot of enthusiasm for Labour’s policies to tackle antisocial behaviour.
