We need to remember 3 things before opposing tax ⬆️: 1. People who own homes in Toronto would pay an extra $30/month. 2. Toronto would have the 5th lowest tax rate in Ontario, less than half of Kingston or London. 3. Chow won an election with mandate to fix City’s problems.

This is turning into an intriguing issue for intergovernmental affairs nerds like me. 🤓 LPC looking to pick a fight to turn the news cycle & try to recoup millennial + Gen Z votes from the CPC. Ontario saying “no” to demands and taking the municipalities know best position.

Here’s the BIG thing that we’re not talking about NEARLY enough. We often ask the questions “Should growth pay for itself” and “Does growth pay for itself?” The better, more important question has always been WHAT KIND OF GROWTH PAYS FOR ITSELF, and what kind of growth doesn’t?

We need to reduce labour input in housing construction. There is no way around it to meet our targets. More modular/prefab/factory built components is the ONLY way. Hoping the Feds/Province start subsidizing mass production facilities like they do for automotive plants. 🙏
