Would there be a place in Mississauga you'd support doing this? Pedestrian streets are some of my favourite places when I travel. Not just Europe, Ottawa, Montreal and several places in the US. What do you think?
Good morning Mississauga.
Been out since 6am working to collect lawnsigns.
The team and I will be over in the next 48hrs to get them.
Thank you for the support.
Thanks again to the team which was over 4yrs in the making and goes far beyond those in this picture.
Looking forward to getting to work!
Thank you to my wonderful family and volunteers. Second highest number of votes in the city is an amazing mandate and privilege I will continue to work hard to earn.
I'm very excited to announce that I was the first person to register for Mississauga's upcoming election today. Check out my video about why I'm passionate about using my experience to work with our community to improve the issues facing Ward 6.
Wonderful support from
@BonnieCrombie
knocking doors in Ward 6 yesterday.
We listened to residents about their issues and how we need a change in the ward.
🤯What a way to kick things off!
Everyday I can feel our momentum getting stronger and stronger💪

Acting Mayor, today I had my first meeting with Ontario's Big City Mayors.
We had a great debate on tools the Province is considering to get more houses built and met with Finance Minister
@PBethlenfalvy
.
Great news for Mississauga as the Ontario Gov will reinstate the Hazel McCallion LRT into downtown Mississauga and extend in further in Brampton.
Fast growing cities need great transit & this is a significant win in doing that. Thanks Minister
@PrabSarkaria
looking forward to…
I think we need a Vacant Home Tax in Peel/Mississauga
Knocking doors in Ward 6 I've seen several long term vacant homes being neglected. In two cases for greater than a decade. I think Mississauga/Peel should have a Vacant Home Tax as Toronto & Vancouver have implemented
In Mississauga, just residents alone litter more than 300,000 cigarette butts a day. Their fibres are toxic to the environment. So, please dispose of them properly.
Traffic safety is the number one concern I hear when I speak with the residents of Mississauga. I continue to work for measures such as speed signs and marked crosswalks to keep pedestrians, cyclists and drivers safer in our city.
Councillor Ras deserves transparent investigation similar to other cities where allegations occurred. Hope that process started
No one should have to deal with an abusive work environment. Victims should know they can come forward. We all lose out when good people decide to leave
Office canvassing this afternoon in Rivergrove area. Really enjoyed meeting people as their city Councillor and not as a guy looking for a vote. Be out again Monday somewhere else in the ward.
@citymississauga
Polls are open 10am to 8pm.
You get to vote for Mayor, Councillor & School Board Trustee.
I would really value people's support today to bring change to Ward 6 Mississauga. Local gov is closest to your home and impacts you each day. Take the time to choose your representatives.
Bid to lower Mississauga's 2023 property tax hike shot down.
I wasn't successful but still think it was the right thing to do for residents in a year of high inflation.
Community safety in Mississauga is one of my priorities. A faraday box is metal lined to prevent thieves cloning your key fob to gain access to your car.
@PeelPolice
recommend this and covering your VIN.

Great turnout for my Ward 6 Campaign launch. Excited to start knocking doors and hearing what is important residents. Thank you to my neighbours, family and friends!

Province has agreed to grant our divorce. It was several good years together but we have grown apart. We will always be friends but now it's time to go our own way.
No one will get "Shafted" we'll figure what's fair and works best for our residents
Did you know? MiWay ridership has recovered beyond pre-pandemic (2019) levels. Ridership in January 2023 was 107% & February was 110% over the corresponding months in 2019.
The recovery is not uniform so further network adjustments will need to be made to address overcrowding.
At our community safety meeting in Mississauga,
@PeelPolice
discussed hi-tech tools thieves use to scan a key fob, & with a VIN, access a car without breaking-in. Covering your VIN & putting your fob in a metal box with lid can stop this.

The amazing support of my family, friends and neighbours are what has allowed me the privilege to realize this dream. I'm so thankful for their help everyday.
No election.
Just out knocking doors this morning to hear what's happening in "the Roses" neighbourhood south of Edenrose. Keeping in touch and trying to address the issues on the street.
Mississauga Ward 6 neighbours keep telling me we need a change at City Hall & I need your help to bring it

While this is a big day for Mississauga, I expect it's a time of uncertainty for Peel Region Employees. As I said yesterday in Council. We will continue to need the same services. 1 of 2...
Last night's CTV boardcast had a good summary of the Mississauga 4plex issue & Mayor Crombie's move that saved the chance for the city to receive the $120m on offer from the Federal Housing Accelerator Fund
It was very sad to hear of a pedestrian fatality this morning in our neighbourhood.
Mississauga will continue to work towards a Vision of Zero pedestrian and cyclist deaths with more measures coming.
I feel for the family, and I'm sorry for your loss.

Did you know? In 1988, after acquiring Orion V model of buses Mississauga Transit would become the first transit system in Canada to operate buses with air conditioning.
My top priorities are
#safestreets
and
#fairtaxes
. At our Mississauga budget discussions, I proposed deferring some roadwork to reduce property taxes by a million dollars and triple our traffic calming and crosswalk projects.
Budget deliberations are well underway at Mississauga Council. Today, I outlined how we can adjust our financing strategy to lower our property taxes by more than $25-million. More proposals to come…

Two dedicated public servants of many of our mutual Ward 6 residents in the news today:
- Congrats to
@rechievaldez
appointed as federal Minister of Small Business.
- And thank you to
@OmarAlghabra
for years of service as Minister of Transport.
I'm so thankful for the wave of support yesterday in public and personal messages after my campaign announcement for Mississauga Ward 6.
I truly appreciate all of it.
I was also pleased to be joined by my friend, and fellow Ward 6 resident, Omar Alghabra

Change is coming to Ward 6.
I've canvassed thousands of houses the last few months to hear what's important to Ward 6 residents. Hundreds of signs went up today.
Safety Tip: When making a right turn at an intersection, stop at the stop line before pulling forward. It's not just a rule, it's a safety measure. Many cyclists and pedestrians identify this as their biggest fear. Let's create safer streets together.

2018 voter turnout was 28% in Mississauga far below Ont average. Bad Provincial rules don't allow polls before 10am on eday. Commuters & busy families have less chance to vote. More advanced polls & options like this are very helpful

Icon of the city. Trailblazer for women in politics. Touching words by Mayor Crombie.
I'm happy to have known Hazel and took the time to visit with her last week. She was sharp and encouraging as ever.
Today, we grieve the loss of Mississauga’s matriarch, Hazel McCallion, a fierce and passionate leader who touched the lives of so many. She lived a life of service before self - everything she did was for the betterment of our City. My deepest condolences to the McCallion family.
Was proud & amazed at the reception for my Ward 6 City Council campaign kickoff. Over 100 guests from across the ward & city. Amazing team effort!
I spoke of the great challenges the city has Street Safety, Affordability, Delivering Great Services and Councillor Accountability
Today is 100 days until Election Day, when we can bring change for Ward 6. My campaign team and I are rolling along, and we have a lot to do in the next 100 days.
Every bit of support connecting with voters or donating helps.
Jim was the best. Terrible to hear of his passing. I loved having coffee with him and to see his infectious optimism about the city and the great projects he championed. Just a fantastic person I'll miss.

It is with a heavy heart & great sadness that I learned of the passing of Ward 1 Councillor Jim Tovey. He was one of our City's greatest champions and an ardent advocate for his residents. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ his family during this difficult time

Quote: Roundabouts are safer than traditional stoplight intersections. Studies show approx. 32 conflict points at an intersection versus 8 in a roundabout. The studies found roundabouts ⬇️ the # of collisions by 35%, ⬇️ the number of injuries by 76% & fatalities by 90%"
