On a visit to Medway years ago HMQ had to sign the visitors book.
The Municipal pen malfunctioned.
Mayor (recently decd. RIP) in panic frantically searching for another.
HMQ calmly beat him to it.
There’s a pen in THE handbag as well as the marmalade sarnie!

In Rochester a while ago HMQ was due to sign the Municipal visitors book, but the Municipal Fountain Pen malfunctioned. Big panic.. mayor rummaging in pocket for a pen. Cool as a cucumber HMQ reached into her hand bag and pulled out - not a sandwich, but - a pen wot worked 🤣

Disappointed to see that parliament has only sat for six of the last 55 days and is now about to embark on a 24 day 'conference recess'. If MPs are concerned about their low standing in public esteem, sorting this out would be a good place to start.
