I am not against a review of MPs' pensions, Stephen, but it would need to bear in mind that for good democratic reasons the average shelf life of an MP is between a third and a half that of a doctor.
@chrismullinexmp The NHS Pension Scheme is a single scheme for all NHS employees. It is not specific to doctors. It is a good scheme but it is less generous than the MPs Pension scheme. The MPs pension scheme is also exempt from pension taxation such as annual allowance / lifetime allowance.

Their pensions are too high -- which is why many doctors retire early -- and their starting salaries too low. Obvious solution frontload the salaries and reduce the pension? Oh, but I am guessing the BMA will resit that, too.
Wes Streeting has failed to commit to negotiate on pay. We are left with no choice but to strike. We will strike between 07:00 Friday 25th July and 06:59 Wednesday 30th July. This will be a full walkout. Strikes are the only message that successive governments listen to.
