@drlucymcbride If you haven't listened to @profvrr latest TWIV, I highly recommend it. I think VR will turn out to be correct. None of the variants are more transmissible or virulent and relying on circumstantial data to conclude this is a bad idea. Did the same w/B117 and it was neither.

They are dying because they are unvaccinated or severely immunocompromised and they simply aren’t being treated early enough. Mask mandates need to end. We have the tools.

@gregggonsalves @CDCgov Here is the virological reality: unless an entirely new virus emerges (possible not likely), immunity against severe disease will likely remain durable. This is true irrespective of mutations. Severe disease is mitigated by the t-cell/b-cell response, and it is durable.

I was talking to a close friend whose mother is in a long term care facility. The mother tested + for Covid the other day, but is completely asymptomatic. She is about 70, liver is failing, in unable to walk, and is generally in very poor health. The physician at the facility

@JenniferNuzzo I think the mistake they are making is assuming that the majority of spread is happening in grocery stores, malls, restaurants, bars. I think spread is happening among unvaxxed in homes and private gathering where nobody is going to mask. I see this mandate as having no impact.
