I’ve spent 5 years ( #WTFentanyl started 2017) talking about fentanyl myths, w/ “exposure” OD (touch or proximity/breathing) being the main one. I want that info to be available without having to reply to every tweet every day. So I’m trying something new:

The adderall shortage was manufactured by DEA & is maintained by DEA. They limit the manufacturers and set the quotas. When one manufacturer has a problem (as has happened) they don’t make any contingency plan for what is a life-improving and life-sustaining medicine for millions

It’s insane that the national Adderall shortage is getting this bad. Not seeing any real sense of urgency to fix it from manufacturers or regulators. I’ve only seen one (1) elected official mention it.

Btw: do you know one thing that does cause arthritis? Not just any arthritis but aggressive joint destruction and long-term disabling arthritis. Lyme disease! Even after treatment. It can also cause permanent heart problems that persist even after treatment. And meningitis, too!

Person who treats lead poisoning here! Lead poisoning is not speculative. Reducing lead exposure is one of the most beneficial public health interventions of the last 100 years. There is no good reason we can’t finish what Congress started in 1986 when they banned lead plumbing

Biden wants to replace lead pipes. He failed to mention that the unfunded mandate sets an almost impossible timeline, will cost billions, infringe on the rights of the States and their residents – all for benefits that may be entirely speculative. #sotu

To everyone sharing this article…the majority of the text says that all scientific consensus says it is impossible, and no actual evidence is presented to support the narrative that this was a “fentanyl overdose”

“(Officer Bannick) said experts could be wrong because tests from 2019 and 2020 are out of date and dealers are synthesizing increasingly strong types of fentanyl.” This is really just painfully embarrassing to watch play out once again.

So when antivaxxers complain about the pharma industry remember they killed a vaccine for a condition that does kill people, & leaves many many more sick for prolonged periods, significantly injured, & even chronically ill after antibiotics. Prevention really is the best medicine

A Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy was found with 104 pounds of fentanyl in his vehicle. Interestingly, he did not have any symptoms from this exposure to so much fentanyl, which he is charged with transporting and selling.

If you don’t work in healthcare, what’s happening in America right now is really fucking terrifying. I’m a blind optimist, & for the first time I can remember I feel defeated & helpless. I used to love emergency medicine but now I dread every shift more than the last. It’s bad.

ER doc here. This is not a controversial take; it’s an incorrect take. Nobody has ever shown that cannabis causes schizophrenia and believe me they’ve tried. Correlation is not the same as causation. I have orders of magnitude more stories about the effects of alcohol and tobacco

For people who think fetuses are living beings, do you fight for tumor rights? They’re living cells, that can have cardiac, neurologic tissues, even fully formed teeth and hair. If something parasitical that can’t survive outside its host is alive why don’t you care about tumors?

This video very clearly shows that the deputy did not experience a fentanyl overdose. It’s embarrassing and frankly dangerous for news media to continue to perpetuate this lie. Especially when it’s this obviously untrue.

Acetaminophen is one of the safest medications available when taken as directed. It’s only the #1 cause of liver failure in the developed world because so many people knowingly and unknowingly overdose. Outside of overdose it is as close to inherently safe as a substance can be.

If you could overdose on fentanyl just by touching it or being near it then people wouldn’t be injecting it. And every medical center would be a mass casualty. Signed, Someone who administered fentanyl safely and therapeutically today with no adverse effects to anyone involved.

Law enforcement is the only profession where you can say “everyone else is wrong cause they aren’t seeing the unimaginable horrors I see every day” when they’re actually a 26-yr-old in Orlando who vomited on camera after confiscating a dollar bill worth of drugs at a traffic stop

LymeRix was FDA approved in 1998. It had a measured 75% efficacy after a 3-dose regimen over 12 months. This is pretty good. I’d definitely take 75% over 0%. But back then Lyme was more isolated to small pockets in the Northeast and “easily treatable” with 4+ weeks of doxycycline
