The problem with switch statements and if/else chains is that they replicate like gerbils. If you aren't careful to sequester them in the early stages of your project, you'll find them reproducing in every corner of your application.

Anything where you "Pay for idle" has no place being called Serverless, by AWS' own definition. Otherwise it's just marketing. You have multiple different infrastructure models being sold under the same umbrella term, it's confusing to customers and damaging to the industry
I was wondering whether OpenSearch Serverless was Real Serverless or Fake Serverless.

10 to 200ms is a hell of a lot of time. If it's actual compute time (like synchronous server-side rendering) it also means your compute costs go up 20x. You are going to recoup the three months of engineering costs in a few weeks at most.
