Absolutely over the moon to be elected as
@YoungLabourUK
's International Officer.
The work starts now. We have a Young Labour to rebuild, a general election to win and a generation of young people to fight for. 🌹🌹
If someone could tell my why I'm being made to argue for a reduction in trade union powers and abolition of the minimum wage in AQA A Level Economics specification I'd very much appreciate it.
We're being taught this as truth, not opinion.
People need to be careful before they start calling for universities to close next term as well. University is more than study for people - it's a home away from home and for far too many students than I can count, that makes it a safe space.
Oxbridge will scream about their increased places for working-class students but honestly none of this matters when the poverty trap will drag so many of these students straight back to where they came from as soon as they graduate.
Five years ago today in 2019, I cast my first ever vote.
Today, it's three votes for Labour from me in Golders Green 🌹🫡
For
@SadiqKhan
For
@anne_clarke
For our London Assembly List candidates
Let's win ✊
So I'm applying for Hardship Funding at the Cambridge University level and have seen THIS.
You're MORE LIKELY to get funding if you went to Christ's Hospital, St Paul's or Merchant Taylor's School.
Thrilled to officially launch my campaign to be
@YoungLabourUK
's next International Officer. 🌹
Through rebuilding our relationship with
@YESocialists
, building global collaboration & championing international solidarity, we can build a Young Labour ready for power.
Pledges ⬇️
Even if we are fully told to stay at home tonight, but you feel safer mentally at University accomodation, or that you would be able to complete your degree better there, please do not feel bad about going.
Super excited to be elected as co-chair of Cambridge University Labour Club (
@CamUniLabour
) with
@elizacastell_
. Any freshers starting, or current students wanting to get involved, or people wanting to do an event with us, get in touch! Looking forward to getting to work. 🌹🌹🌹
In the name of ‘anti racism’ Cambridge University Labour club have expelled a BAME student from their executive for disagreeing with the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
Kenneth Stern, the definition’s lead author, wrote ‘it was never intended to be a campus hate speech code’.
Grace Blakeley's not so hot takes on class are really indicative of SO MANY problems in the modern left. Intellectualising class and reducing it to purely economic oppression completely invalidates millions of lived experiences of class oppression.
As well as campaigning and celebrating this week, we had the pleasure of hosting
@CHPYouth
in London, with
@gencosmankillik
&
@yigitkarip
joining us.
In Britain and Türkiye, political narratives are shifting, looking forward to working together more!

*brag alert*
12 months ago i'd been rejected from Cambridge and was in the middle of my A Levels - excited for what Birmingham uni would bring me. On A Level results day, I was one of the first "adjustment" students to get to Cambridge - a scheme for working-class students
Today I was meant to be returning to
@GirtonCollege
to complete the final term of my first year there. That's not happening now and it's heartbreaking. I never thought I'd have met friends that I now regard as some of the most important people in my life in a place that (1/8)
I didn't think I'd back
@lisanandy
to be Labour Leader. Now I am. For me, Lisa is the only person who will bring back that trust with the voters we lost. The party at the moment is very middle class, which can and does alienate working class voices easily. [no hate on m/c] (1/8)
🌍 Super exciting to have met with
@enriclopezj
and others from the
@YESocialists
team yesterday.
🌹
@YoungLabourUK
is returning to the YES family and we can't wait to make ALL young members privy to its benefits.
It's good to be back.
Gorgeous trip back home over the weekend, got out on the doors for
@MrTomGray
in Brighton Pavilion and
@tomrutland
in East Worthing and Shoreham. Spoke to people who had voted Green since 2005 or Tory forever that are now coming to Labour. Get in! 🌹
Of 3570 students in
@Cambridge_Uni
atm, just 4 tested positive for COVID-19 in our 1st week of asymptomatic testing. 1 in 900. The gov't and
@UKLabour
need to be supporting asymptomatic testing weekly at EVERY UK uni, from then they can all adopt a more moral returns policy.
We've been told to only return to uni if "you don't have study spaces" or "for health reasons". Why not just choice? You're really forcing people to out themselves as mentally ill or having a difficult home life or no space? Absolute bullshit once again.
🗳️ Voting closes this Friday in elections for the next Young Labour and Labour Students national committees.
The Labour Party has given me endless opportunities since I first joined in 2017 as a working-class kid from a family who had never engaged in politics.
Thrilled to officially launch my campaign to be
@YoungLabourUK
's next International Officer. 🌹
Through rebuilding our relationship with
@YESocialists

Pledges ⬇️
Plenty of middle class white people equating the working-class to the fash on the streets today. Ur deflection onto working-class people to make u feel good about urself because u don't have to socialise with w/c people shows a deep lack of comprehension on so many things.
Thrilled to have finally finished my M.Phil dissertation titled:
"Towards a decolonial veganism: posthumanist and anti-racist responses to contemporary vegan diet culture"
With that, I have now completed my Masters in Identities and Cultures of Europe
@tcddublin
!
Blwyddyn newydd dda! (happy new year) - hope to live rent free in the minds of people who have nothing better to do than hate for another year. Trans rights are human rights and on that I will never be silent. 🏳️⚧️♥️
OKAY SO 6 months ago, my friend and I suggested a Class officer on
@GirtonCollege
JCR and we were LAUGHED AT by loads of people. 6 months on and we've just held a referendum and 81% of our college have voted to introduce a socio-economic inclusivity officer!!!!
Immense thank you to the almost 100 CLPs that have nominated me to be the next
@YoungLabourUK
International Officer, from right across the country.
Now it begins!
🇮🇪 Was great to meet last night with
@labouryouth
and
@SDLPyouth
last night!
🌹 Lots of exciting discussions and opportunities for Young Labour, Labour Youth and SDLPY members coming very soon!
🤝 Here's to further collaboration across our islands.
🗳️ Ballots drop TODAY for Young Labour elections.
It's been great running with and getting to know the
@Organise24
candidates since December, so I hope you'll join me in voting for our candidates.
Under 27? Vote for Jack and me!
Let's Rebuild Young Labour. 🌹
This whole A Level/GCSE decision is a disaster for working-class students. Most working-class students have to work in sixth form to buy lunch and clothes and be with friends. I know for me this meant low mock results - it's only expected given I had less revision time.
Super happy that my dissertation on decolonising veganism at
@tcddublin
has been marked with a distinction at a 75! Officially now with a complete M.Phil!
Have all learning online, whatever. In a way that's besides the point, let people choose whether they want to be at Uni or at home. The closure of Universities again, if it happens, will do ridiculous levels of damage to young people that Coronavirus could only dream of doing.
Incredible energy at London Labour Conference this weekend. From Bromley to Barnet, Uxbridge to Upminster, the Tories are running scared. Delighted to have been able to represent Finchley and Golders Green as a CLP delegate! 🌹🌹
#LonLab24
A big go raibh maith agaibh to
@labourirish
for endorsing me to be Young Labour's International Officer! 🌹🇮🇪
Living in Ireland was something I'm incredibly grateful for, so to receive this endorsement is extra special.
Fellow young people! We need to remember to come for the
@LibDems
as much as we come for the Tories this election. Remind people what the
@LibDems
not only did but still stand for...
- raising tax on the very poorest
- a commitment to capitalism
- not consulting on Brexit...
this is rly interesting. im never gonna say lisa nandy is god's gift, or the best thing is sliced bread, or that small clips like this are overly useful for inferences, but it absolutely does mean something. working class communities like the one i live in at home really...
Channel 4 focus grouped Labour voters who switched to the Tories in 2019.
The results are pretty stark, not one said they’d vote for RLB, every single one said they’d vote for Lisa Nandy.
If we want to win the next election there’s only one option for Labour leader.
I'm reminding you that Uni students have yet to be asked whether they want to return to uni on the 25th, nor have they been asked if they're okay being forced to study at home.
Was lovely as ever to be out campaigning (in my new CLP!) for
@FGGLabour
and
@sarahsackman
as well as meeting and chatting to young members in the constituency at the CLP festive social. Finchley and Golders Green Labour gain methinks 😎😎🫡
My piece in
@labouryouth
's Left Tribune this month. In the UK and Ireland, our generational housing crisis is being weaponised by the far right.
In reclaiming this narrative, it's been great to see
@UKLabour
and
@labour
set such bold targets in regard to housing.
None of us thought for a second Rishi Sunak had any care for Trans people or Trans Rights, but to make a joke in front of Brianna Ghey's mother is something I think most people hadn't expected, which five years ago would have been a resignation-worthy comment.
Proudly supported
@JewishLabour
since I joined Labour in 2017, so to attend my first JLM one day conference today was amazing, more impressed than ever at Labour Party material and speeches. Bring on the general election, and a Labour win where Jews feel safe with Labour again.
Labour weekend number two, can't get enough of it clearly... Basingstoke with
@LabourStudents
(can't let my youth go) and Uxbridge & South Ruislip nonetheless extremely lovely with more Conservative to Labour switchers by the street!
cw: transphobia
So Rosie's (now on private) reply to this tweet was:
"I'm a 'transphobe' for knowing that only women have a cervix....?!"
@Kate_HollernMP
why have you liked this? Why are you legitimising language that trans people find hateful and offensive?
Absolutely amazing to see our sister party in Türkiye perform as well as they have.
People can wake up in Türkiye and feel safer tomorrow. Delighted for the Turkish community in Britain and around the world. 🇹🇷🇹🇷
Today i’m crying from happiness, not heartbreak for Türkiye. Today we are one step closer to a Türkiye that Atatürk imagined when he first created the republic.
Today we are building towards a society that is no longer polarised, that works in peace and harmony 🇹🇷♥️
Delighted to be on the ballot to be International Officer of
@YoungLabourUK
(even if noms for my own CLP didn't work yet 😭)
We're rebuilding Young Labour, rebuilding our international standing and rebuilding trust 🌹✊
We've just put our lovely Reo to sleep and said goodbye. He was just a few days off being 20 which made him a couple of months older than me.
I've never lived a day of my life without him and feel really lost.
Sleep tight ❤️
Lush day in (gorgeous) Suffolk in the new wards of the Lowestoft constituency for the wonderful
@Jess4Lowestoft
. Met someone who had voted Conservative in every election since the 60s, now voting Labour for the first time!
Great to meet with
@IUSY_Global
vice-president
@EliranByk
yesterday on behalf of
@YoungLabourUK
.
Great conversations about IUSY, the left in Israel and how we can share our political knowledge and education amongst as many people as possible.
Young Labour is back! 🌹
Just read 3 personal statements of people applying for HSPS from my sixth form and legit think one of them is highkey the smartest year 12 ever lmao I genuinely didn't even have proper improvements to give her, love 2 c state school kids smashing it !
Standout for me at
@progbrit
today - is Labour serious about class?
@LisaBanes_
spoke perfectly about what Labour still needs to do to make our party a true party of the working class.
This is a conversation I've wanted our party to have for years. Delighted to see it here.
If you're working class and graduate with a first, you're just as likely to be successful as someone middle-class who graduated from the same uni with a 2.2 :)))
So bit late but i just watched the
@graceblakeley
and
@PaulJSweeney
podcast-y thing on
@novaramedia
and it was low key one of the most interesting things I've had to listen to, especially as a remainer from my Brighton bubble. If you haven't watched, do!
A huge thank you to
@peterkyle
for officially launching our campaign to win East Worthing and Shoreham on Saturday.
Wet and windy weather didn't stop us speaking to hundreds of voters - with so many of them excited about Labour's plan to give Britain its future back.
is that Cambridge, and I suspect MANY universities nationwide are failing working-class students right now when we need their support more than ever. We were never even asked what we might like for exam arrangements. Mental health side-effects for all need consideration. (8/8)
SNP and Tory moves this evening have completely eclipsed that the Commons has voted for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, to follow the route where we can to a peaceful two-state solution and the recognition of a Palestinian state.
That's big, and important.
Huge love & thanks to friends at
@JewishLabour
and
@NoPasaranMedia
for a copy of this book. A dreadful shame it's needed - but a vital tool in tackling AS. Nonetheless, I hope you all have a wonderful end to Hanukkah. ❤️✡️
It's easy to demand more affordable housing yet simultaneously oppose countless planning proposals when you're seldom in any power.
Trying to bat for two teams, and failing.
- Antisemitism accusations in Peterborough
- Complete failure to deal with antisemitism
- Factional bullying becoming the norm
- Sexual Harassment scandals
- Potentially set to be electorally obliterated because of blindness on policy
I wonder why we're polling at 19% 🧐🙄
So privileged to have known Jack and the incredible work he's done over a number of years, through thick and thin. His plan to rebuild Young Labour into a powerful, welcoming campaigning force is incredibly exciting and there's no-one I'd rather work with than Jack.
One of the hardest things of being at Cambridge is that people NEVER understand you when you say you grew up in poverty. What that comes with, what it does to someone, how it shapes someone forever, how extreme it can be. It's tiring.
Got a 73 on my 2nd sociology mock and aaargh I can't even explain how happy I feel about it. On an essay about social class as well - the thing I'm most passionate in.
After our elections for the lent term 2021 exec, the results are:
Co-Chair:
@RyanBogle7
&
@elizacastell_
Secretary:
@JedAsemota
Treasurer/membership: Sam Carling
Speakers:
@SleemanSophie
Socials: Greg Taylor
Campaigns: Ewa Hercyk
Publicity: Jonathan Heywood
When you hear people say there is no threat to British Jews, that they haven't seen anyone be horrible to Jewish people, this becomes one of the only forms of education we can use.
This is under a minute's walk from my home, can't begin to imagine how the community is feeling.
I must say, this is good to hear. A ceasefire is not the magic gift to long lasting peace or even the two state solution, but if history teaches us anything, especially in recent British/Irish history, it's that continued fighting certainly doesn't either.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer has called for a permanent Gaza ceasefire
“An end to the fighting, not just now, not just for a pause, but permanently. A ceasefire that lasts. Conference, that is what must happen now - the fighting must stop now.”
Going to the UK's most elite private schools means you are preferred for 'hardship' funding LMAO but if you grew up counting pennies no no you're second choice.
As I now have a new job, I'm excited to have joined
@GMB_union
, especially during their congress
#GMB19
❤️
Even better was that I was watched one of my favourite trade unionists ever, Cllr Nancy Platts, open the congress and mention a campaign I'm proud to have played a role in.
No shock that people are laughing at, shaming or judging those queuing for hours outside *certain highstreet stores* but that's just everyday classism in the UK for you
Seeing Labour in London, frequently visiting Labour-led Wales & seeing Labour back home in Brighton & Hove and the tangible difference Labour makes in power is why I'm proud to be Labour. The Greens decimated Brighton: Labour are rebuilding and will do the same in government too.
My column in
@brightonargus
today 👇🏽
❄️ Theres nowhere more magical than
#Brighton
&
#Hove
over the festive season
🏆 We’ve achieved a lot in our first 7 months
🌹With a
@UKLabour
Government in 2024 we could transform our City
Amazing to be at the
@JewishLabour
Chanukah party this evening. Such amazing speeches from all involved. Remembering four years ago today where the Labour Party was a space for antisemitic hate, it is now a space for solidarity and support for the Jewish community.
