Multiple Judicial Review points, a new policy statement & the fiddly DCO process means that without further reforms we could be SEVEN years from 3rd runway approval. A 'whatever it takes' approach can change this - looking forward to it.

On Britain's economic plight, this column misses just how bad our relative performance is. e.g. it mentions that Germany is in recession, but neglects to note that, on average, families in Germany are almost 20% better off than families in the UK.

Long-term energy security is built on safe nuclear power. So we must get costs down - UK nuclear construction costs are the highest in the world. Govt is urgently looking at this thru regulatory taskforce & I hope we are as ambitious as possible!.

This thread is precisely why Part 3 of the Bill is so important. But I'm not sure its conclusion is right. I can't see any of the amendments requiring all (or any) conservation measures be delivered up front. E.g. this just asks for sequencing to be set out.
On Thursday night, we heard that government was making big concessions on its planning bill, putting lots more controls on its nature recovery plans. I find this disappointing. And to explain why, I have to tell a story I’ve been holding off from sharing.

Fwiw, this doesn't look right to me. Hinchliff's amendments would have driven a coach & horses thru parts of the Bill. Will wait for the precise wording, but the govts proposals look to be much more targeted.
NEW: Government accept changes to the planning bill put forward by MP Chris Hinchliff, after they suspended him on Wednesday. Hinchliff had spearheaded a rebellion against the planning bill - with his amendment also supported by the three other suspended MPs. 1/3.

We've got to get a win-win for nature, and this Bill has got to get through Parliament!.
When it comes to development and the environment, we must move beyond a failing status quo. To provide confidence that the Planning and Infrastructure Bill delivers the win-win we know it will, we have today tabled a package of amendments to Part 3 👇🏻.
