Yes the social benefits of alcohol are there but it's becoming abundantly clear there is zero health benefit to alcohol.
So my question is - why not take the good (socialization) and leave the bad (alcohol)?

I think we jump to that first drink upon entering a social situation as a crutch when our body & mind will assimilate naturally if we let it.

In Allan Carr's book "Easy Way to Control Alcohol" there is a great observation about how kids don't need alcohol to 'loosen up'.
If you watch kids, there is a natural timidness & hesitancy...

I like WFH. So much more control over workout / diet / working environment. Feel more focused too and less wasted time on commute. I do my work then I’m done. No sitting at desk for optics. Post-iso, ideally want to do 2-3 days WFH and 2 days on office.

The problem isn’t dogs themselves - it’s that many people get dogs without fully understanding how much effort it takes to properly care for a dog. Thus you get a ton of untrained, anxious, under exercised, hyperactive dogs w/ no pack leader - and these dogs are indeed annoying.

L take on the commute. A few of my friends’ dads commuted from LI to NYC 2.5+ hrs / day, 5 days / week for decades - that’s an incredible amount of life lost sitting on the train, alone, missing time with family. You can never convince me that type of commute is worthwhile.

The desire to grab a drink was high, especially when the initial social anxiety / pressure of being in a big group of people hit.
