I guess we have to write about consequence culture, which is clearly somewhat different than cancel culture

Specifics aside, (you shouldn't lie on a major TV network) the same people who cheered on cancel culture when it was people they didn't like being canceled are now aghast it's used against people they like. It's incredible, because you see precisely zero self-reflection

Brussels is ringing alarm bells because patriots are rising together to defend their children, sovereignty, and way of life. @PM_ViktorOrban

Lot of people strangely upset Ezra Klein had Ben Shapiro on his show. Imagine being so cynical about everything all the time. It's healthy we have prominent figures on both sides of the political spectrum talk -this is how America should work. If you don't like this, look inward

Seen so many blatantly false ideas spread past week it's incredible. So put down a few ways people continue to be misled. As I wrote it I realized maybe people don't really care, as long as it supports their thesis. Which is ofc is the maturity of a child

You should have have your shields up when viewing anything online - from both new and traditional media

Had convo w/someone about this over weekend. They said "it's freedom of speech." I said ofc it is, they're not in jail. But every company has a social media policy, and no brand wants employees encouraging political violence & acting savagely in public. Not new. Decorum is real

Reading commentary online past wk is clear many lack even basic ability to parse info. They believe clips/quotes w/o context. Media’s no better, often wrong then retracts unseen. Will share more on blog shortly (sadly-links throttled x-platform, these also help add vital context)

In case you missed this week's post - we have untold billions going to AI, it's extraordinary people think the best use of this is to spam the internet. I'm asking everyone to do better

We must repudiate the idea that "speech can be violence" once and for all. @glukianoff and I wrote about the dangers of promoting this idea on college campuses back in 2017, in @TheAtlantic: https://t.co/BkFKx2d1Y6

Plenty of reasons to dislike Sanders but this is a good statement. Watch if you haven't

The number of people who spread lies - including mainstream media outlets - about someone (who can't defend themselves) because their ideology/tribe told them "person bad" is really on display this week. There's always the option to say nothing if you can't say something nice
The New York Times told millions of readers that Charlie Kirk was anti-semitic. And then, quietly, they offered this correction that only a handful of readers see - that the opposite was true.

The violence in America is inexcusable and sickening. The people celebrating it are pure evil and devoid of humanity. Truly something has gone wrong for this to continue in modern days

this is true and also doesn't matter. the correct number of horrifying schizophrenic train murders committed by a man previously arrested 14 times is zero.

Sorry I can't let this one go, people are openly bragging about blatant AI webspam operations. We've seen this movie before. You should care if you like the internet

They have not the faintest idea why people listen to podcasts. How many AI content-based startups are indistinguishable from webspam?

Canada is not a serious country
Canada has outlawed carrying anything for self defense beyond a whistle or other noisemaker. Now, a city has banned home security cameras that "view or listen beyond the perimeters of their own property." Why do so many laws side with/benefit criminals? https://t.co/9g3deTh7NS

Anytime you see a post start with, "hi, <blank> credentialed expert here," you're about the read the most insufferable commentary you've seen in your life, usually with lots of likes by other insufferable people
