I thought it would be easy. A warm-up. Something simple to set us up for more complex ops in the future.
Turns out I was wrong.
About almost everything.
@rebeccawatson
If you had listened to the podcast you would have heard Eric address every one of the things you find ‘hilarious’ about this. I mean, I get it, your audience probably won’t listen, either, but you don’t have to lie to them.
@oneunderscore__
“It’s just…you know…the way it is.”
Said every authoritarian ever.
“We hate you, therefore you must: shut up, starve, become a slave, etc…
And it’s your fault. If you’d just obeyed from the start, I wouldn’t have to do this.”
@TheJoelTruth
@NicholasFerroni
You’re not making the point you think you are.
Which one of these things are most people, in most states, unable to shop around for? Teachers.
If you were stuck with a plumber who couldn’t fix your toilet - because of your Zip code - what would you do?
@PeterHotez
Hi Dr. Hotez, I was wondering if you could explain why you appear to be turning down $2.6 million for showing up on a talk show and explaining science to people? Genuinely confused as to why anyone would turn that down.
@morningstar2651
@ID_AA_Carmack
Let me get this straight - a con that wants to be “fun” and “anti-authoritarian” is a *red flag* to you? Also, please ask yourself why you care so much about people you disagree with politically getting together for a con. It’s a bit creepy to fixate on this, no?
@hilaryagro
Capitalism = Freedom. People will always do things voluntarily for others or in exchange for other goods, as long as they have the freedom to do so.
@ACT10NC4T
The only problem is progressives are the new conservatives. You can't be punk if you fundamentally agree with every major media outlet and big corporation and the President and most of the government and I could go on...
@tesshall
@therealrukshan
This is of the most racist things I’ve seen lately on Twitter. Imagine thinking migrants or people of Sinhalese heritage should all have the same political opinions.
@GilbertLiz
Genuinely stumped here. Why would Ukrainians oppose the publication of a book in which the Soviet Government (which no longer exists) is apparently the bad guy? It’s set in Siberia…and….so what?
@chadloder
@MrAndyNgo
So…he deserved to be beaten? It was good for him to learn that lesson? He should be beaten again if he ever finds himself near an Antifa event in the future? Are these the lessons I should learn from your tweet?
@JaneskiLori
Tomlinson is, famously, one of the most unhinged people on social media. I'm torn between laughing and feeling sorry for him. He feels a bit like Perry from Windy City Heat: absurdly hilarious until you find out he had a major head injury that he never recovered from.
@Breaking911
I used to think it was criminal that shows like SNL hadn’t done skit after skit on her, but now I understand why. You don’t mock people who are truly challenged - developmentally or otherwise.
I hope she gets some help, but we really shouldn’t be making fun of her.
@lwoodhouse
Police may protect innocent citizens from criminals, but they also protect criminals from the victims who may otherwise act to exact revenge. This has always been the incoherence behind the defund crowd - without the police, criminals are fair game for vigilantes.
@stevenfilms1998
Because…they have? Look at just the last few years. COVID restrictions/mandates, DEI, and all the anti capitalist rhetoric - each being authoritarian/Marxist at the core - come from the left. There is no equivalent movement - at the moment - on the right.
@HariSel57511397
Love to see people experience this for the first time and realise that Verhoeven was ahead of his time in hating the source material of the movie he was making.

Sun Tzu, when asked by the King of Wu to test the principles of his Art of War on two hundred of the King's concubines, arranged them into two companies with the King's favorite concubines in charge of each. When these two refused to follow Sun Tzu's orders, he commanded they be
@justin_hart
I served in both disastrous wars, and there’s nothing weak or pedestrian about asking those who haven’t experienced combat to think twice about advocating for - or making decisions on - sending young men to die halfway around the world.
@clairlemon
This is a silly, juvenile take. If these numbers are true, it’s a tragedy. And the real question should be what can our institutions do next time to avoid politicising public health efforts. Part of that should involve engaging with critics instead of telling them to shut up.
@CynicalPublius
...He spoke English, said he'd worked as a terp before, and desperately needed a job to feed his wife and children. But he had one important question for me: were any of the companies inside owned by Jews? He *would not* work for them, even if it meant his family went hungry.
@johnkonrad
Perhaps commercials play a role, but as a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, I would humbly suggest those are the two biggest commercials of all.
What kid wants to join the losing team?
@JRubinBlogger
If you want to know what the inverse of the truth is, it’s normally a good idea to read Jen’s columns, and this one is no exception. No honest person could read the court’s decision, or the concurrences, in SFFA and think this sentence is remotely true: “When, for example, the

Gina is 100% right. KK is why this middle-aged man, who saw the original trilogy ~100 times, has never heard of your show. I went from consuming every bit of Star Wars content I could find to not caring one iota in the space of 1 1/2 Disney SW movies.
My argument is not that stealing is ok, but that
(a) every piece of land has been stolen, multiple times
(b) we do more damage by trying to rectify old erors than just accepting them
This is a utilitarian tool for old errors; not prescriptive, legitimizing future thefts.
@BretDevereaux
If it’s this ‘staggering’, perhaps you need to check your premises. The conservatives are all saying this bill moves immigration massively - and durably - to the *left*.
Do you honestly think Biden would be eager to sign a bill that is as conservative as you describe?
@ScottHech
The headline (deliberately?) omits the part where he assaulted/choked the officer after already being tased.
It is a tragic, but unsurprising, result.

Fun fact - circa 2018, I ran a (now defunct) website called PZWatch. I’d read PZ’s blog and document every verifiable lie - and fully fact checked each - that he told. I kept statistics, and it amounted to ~1.5 lies per day.
I quit because reading him

More gaslighting: James Baker is just a "random person" now. You expect this from someone like
@KeithOlbermann
, who at his core is hyper-partisan. From Ben, it's worse, because he still purports to be "neutral"...which of course is fiction.
Is it weird we’re not seeing much about this from mainstream media sources? Government malfeasance, retribution against a whistleblower, etc. Seems like this should be an attractive story for those yearning to speak truth to power.

I'm pretty sure that's how tolerance is supposed to work. Intolerance, on the other hand, is forcing people to align with your belief system against their will.

I think you may have misunderstood the original post. The US government is suing Sheetz for discrimination because the company uses the same standard the US government does when it investigates security clearances.
I never wanted to entertain the notion that Dave was antisemitic...until this show. About halfway through he just flat out asserts that Jews are bloodthirsty killers who celebrate the killing of innocent civilians.
I'm not making that up. Listen to 28:55.

Amazing how many people, including Connie, are being manipulated on this issue and don’t know it. Or maybe they do know, but they fear the mob’s wrath. Either way, Scott’s not the boogeyman he’s being made out to be.

‘Debate experience’ is a non-sequitur. A world-renowned expert in any field should have no trouble exposing lunatics or conspiracists, no matter how many hours of debate they took in college. The only relevant factor would be public speaking experience, which Peter has in spades

Networking with powerful people is the main benefit of ’elite’ institutions like Harvard, so it does make sense for legacies to be an important gateway to that world.

This is an interesting boomer-ish reaction that was ‘conventional wisdom’ when I grew up. There was even a MASH episode with this storyline (Radar wanted to get fit, and Hawkeye talked him out of it using this exact logic).
The only problem? Every part of it is wrong.

You analysis isn't bad, but I don't think you can understand Hamas in light of any western theory of warfare. You need to think like an Islamist, and Pakistani Brigadier General Malik wrote the book on how to prosecute an Islamist war.

Also Charlotte - "I subscribe to the apparently controversial view that when discussing a grave and complex matter for which I have no substantial knowledge, it’s good practice to avoid acting as though I do."
HR has "substantial knowledge" - why don't you sit down, sweetie.
@TrentTelenko
Interesting analysis, but WRT 155mm I'm not convinced it's a concern. When I last live-fired (over a decade ago) we used lots of ammo/powder made in 1955(!). We may have given Ukraine 1M rounds, but the question is how old/how much do we have left.
@GodandtheBear
Quick reminder - every time you want to use the word capitalism, replace it with freedom first to see if it still makes sense.
The two are synonymous.
@TheRealHoarse
This is a hot take for the sake of being controversial. If there's nothing special about what Brady does, how is it possible no one else has even come close to his level of success? In your world, he must be by far the luckiest person on the planet. Or he could just be great.
