One of the biggest problems with the U.S. Navy? It’s a closed loop. You can’t grow, or stop the decline, without outside perspective. Hard to come by in such a technical bubble. This episode nails it: a sharp foreigner with the chops to see what we can’t.
Enjoyed doing this for the excellent @Telegraph Battle Lines podcast with @RolandOliphant. Much USN ground covered (appropriate🇺🇸) and some dipping back into what commanding a RN warship felt like.

My liberal elite Massachusetts town weirdly does fireworks right before Christmas instead of the 4th. The entire town was PACKED yesterday so we left for NY. Couldn’t figure out why there were so many this year. A friend just texted he overheard why. It’s all the people.

Very cool but I have questions about the effectiveness of this on double hull Chinese merchant ships built to their military standards. Not saying it won’t work, but we have never tested it like that.
