fwiw early on in teaching I’d noticed similar struggles re validity, so I altered two things
1, I began to emphasize that validity checked the structure of the argument while soundness checked the truth
2, I drilled home the point that bc validity is t checking truth, only the

I don’t understand the whole “I got mine eff you” thing. No one is responsible for the fact of their own being, or for any of the contexts/conditions in which their being was manifest. We should want to reduce sufferings and cheer for everyone to succeed.
