Humanists are taught to read this way from day one. This, I would argue, is why the humanities produce good therapists. These skills are transferable to reading people, too.
The best way to read psychotherapy texts and great literature is slow, with a pen, mindful of free associations, open to learning something new, ready for a new discovery, and a deepening of your own inner reflectiveness. What book would you most recommend to read in this way.
