flirting as a man is about getting her to tell you what she wants without saying it and then very confidently giving it to her.

Some news: my gf has started a postdoc at Yale, so we’re leaving Berkeley for New Haven next month! Will be looking for friends/hangs and work as an LPC-A somewhere in CT amenable to psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapy, etc.

I’ve recently experimented with Chat*** and so far it’s 1) failed to summarize all the chapters of a Zizek book, 2) made up a quote from Winnicott, and 3) referred me to a poem by Borges that does not exist.

Humanists are taught to read this way from day one. This, I would argue, is why the humanities produce good therapists. These skills are transferable to reading people, too.

The best way to read psychotherapy texts and great literature is slow, with a pen, mindful of free associations, open to learning something new, ready for a new discovery, and a deepening of your own inner reflectiveness. What book would you most recommend to read in this way.

Thumb sucking isn’t just for babies. Done consciously, it’s one of the most powerful tools to regulate your nervous system, calm your mind, and release fascia in the face, jaw, and neck. But it also tones key muscles you never think about.

Funny moment yesterday in analysis where I was saying how soothing it was to organize pdf’s of books on my computer and he goes “ah yes, gathering the bits” and I was like “okay yeah here comes Melanie”.
