@NoHolyScripture Your point is spot on. In fairness, the woman who grew up indoctrinated actually believes it is self-respect to be degraded in such fashion. My wife and I were groomed that way. FYI, that changed when we had daughters and as adults, they no longer believe this rubbish.

Morality & reason. Once we accept that we prefer good over harm & live among others whose actions affect us, we can't rationally demand special treatment for ourselves. Impartiality follows, & so does the Golden Rule, cooperation, & moral behavior. No Scripture required.

If a perfect, moral god allows children to starve to death for some hidden reason, that reason had better be extraordinarily compelling. Comparing it to a therapist deliberately inflicting pain doesn’t fit the scale, randomness or moral stakes of the real suffering involved!

A system built on unequal power will naturally tend to protect itself, even at the cost of individual freedom—especially for women. Mormonism and most other religious institutions are prime examples. If only more women had the courage to acknowledge & reject such oppression.
